Do you log on to CKA every time, or stay logged in?

I suspect you might have been hijacked if you are being forced into logging on each time. If so, and you use the password here in other places, it might be worse than that. Just for safety, use a different browser and change your CKA password with a random one, and only use that browser to connect here. That might point out the culprit.

Those porn sites use some virus filled extensions to track you all over the web. Once they have hooks into your PC, evicting them is pretty tough.

I typically log out every day. And do the full clean up once a week, if not more often. I also didn't open up any of the dirty emails. I learned that lesson a long time ago, including to never ever use that split reading pane that the email programs have.

This one is odd. It's only happening here at CKA. All other sites are behaving normally. And I haven't signed up for anything new in ages so my exposure to spammers/phishers/etc has been extremely minimal for years. I suspect it's a botch on Microsoft's part, with the security at Outlook email being less than what's needed this day & age.

I'll screen cap the robot the next time it happens and post the copy of the image here. Maybe someone knows what the hell it is because, like I said, it's certainly not an official captcha filter to keep bots out.

DrCaleb @ Sun Jul 16, 2023 12:20 pm

Are you using Chrome? Google owns Captcha, so I wonder if they are messing about.

Perhaps the screen cap will shed more light.

Thanos @ Sun Jul 16, 2023 3:11 pm

No. I only use Gmail from the Google products. I use Edge for the browser, as I'm used to it more than I am to Google. Plus the computer is at least ten years old now and the massive size of Google just bogs it down too much.

I logged out earlier, did a full browser/cookie clean, and shut it down while I went out for a couple of hours. Opened up CKA when I returned and this time the dopey robot didn't show up to redirect. Seems OK now but I'll make sure to post that screen cap if it ever does it again.

BTW, the only really "risky" thing I do online is torrent films, TV shows, and occasionally some music. I don't download date files or games as I was told a long time ago that those are far more likely to be full of viruses & such than MKV or MPEG/FLAC files ever could be. All in all my online activities don't cross into dangerous territory very much. Even my occasional viewings of lovely ladies doing naughty things with their happy bits is typically restricted to simple Edge/Bing image searches, and I absolutely never download or open up the links to any of that crap at all. I got stung badly a long time ago when a diseased file on The Hun's Yellow Pages effectively nuked my ancient Windows ME computer altogether - I took the harshness of that painful lesson to heart and never did anything like that ever again.

Wow, you are really boring. Just like me. ;)

Thanos @ Sun Jul 16, 2023 4:06 pm

No point in leaving behind a rut that took decades to create and make comfortable. Boring routine is my best friend. [B-o]

Windoze: download and run adwcleaner from malwarebytes. Not from anywhere else.
If it won't even download or run - you're already "got".
It's a very quick and dirty check for any malware. It will also make Defender pop up and run if it finds anything real ugly.

Edge is pretty much the same as Chrome, both are "Chromium". Not much point using both.
Don't ever download Chromium itself on a PC - 90% of the download links are full of malware to sucker in ppl who think they're downloading "Chrome"

And WTH is an ME computer still existing for? Not even good for landfill.

I'm getting multiple threats being blocked by my protection. Again.

Strutz @ Fri Aug 18, 2023 11:33 pm

Pages are super slow in loading tonight compared to other sites.

Anyone else notice this?

Thanos @ Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:52 am

Yup. Same. Has been slow since late afternoon.

The avatar upload function is also still not working.

The site seems very slow tonight. Has anyone else noticed?

Edit... weird... one month after previous posts above about the same. 8O

Might be an automated backup process.

xerxes @ Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:36 pm

The site has been very slow the last few days. Both on mobile and on desktop.

Scape @ Thu Oct 05, 2023 12:59 am

Server was restarted this morning

DrCaleb @ Thu Oct 05, 2023 6:02 am

It's not helping. Post submissions still take a long time.
