Civiltech, thanks for giving the address for the Monarchists of Canada. I personally want the British monarchy to stay in Canada and to continue to have a Prime Minister. I also hope we will never forget as Canadians the British,French and Native heritage because that is Canada and without it, we probably wouldn't be Canada
Very cool of you to state this.

However, a small point of correction. It is the Canadian Monarchy. Not the British. The Queen may be Head of State of both U.K., and Canada, but Her rule of Britain does not make us subject to that state, nor them subject to us. (Do I sound like a stickler?)

My concern is that so often we relate our Monarch to "British" rule. This is not the case. Our Queen is Canadian. She is also Jamaicain, British, Australian, etc. as she is Head of State for some 13 realms, and also Head of the Commonwealth.

Just my two cents. However, I look forward to seeing many more links added to the vive link site.

CivilT.

Another excellent website is as follows:

http://www.cicweb.ca/

The Canada - Israel Committee

With links to Canadian Palestine already on the vivecnada site, it is important to recieve a balanced view on the serious issues surrounding that region.

The above site is an imforative resource for both Israeli's in Canada, and all of us as Canadians.

Civiltech, it might be that conventional parties were left off of the Vive links list for good reason. This site is devoted to the sovereignty of our nations, and the Conservatives, Liberals, and NDP aren't. They all CLAIM to be sovereigntist parties, but none of them have said anything about NAFTA for a good decade. (And yes, you did just catch me critisizing the NDP)

And as to the monarchy, well... this is one place that I think tradition and heritage should shine. Paying a few million dollars a year for our heritage is much nicer than, say, the patchwork we call the Code of Law.

z_whalen @ Thu Oct 14, 2004 10:06 pm

But there is a link to the NDP website and a link to Fly Our Flag, which is an NDP site! I think it would be only fair to add the other political parties. Vive has to shake off the obvious NDP orientation. As I understand it, the purpose of this site is to bring Canadians of all stripes together for the cause of sovereignty. Not all Canadians are New Democrats. I see Conservatives and Liberals on this site advocating the cause of sovereignty, so I think their parties should be shown the same amount of respect.

civiltech @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 5:27 am

I'm a little confused here.

Why can the NDP site be posted and none of the other parties? I agree that the NDP site should be posted, but also any other of the political party that share a respect and intrinsic care for our Country. I think it's a little unfair to say that the Liberals and Conservatives are not Canadian enough..

Under the activist section is a Canadian-Palestine site, as it puts it "sympathetic" to the Palestinian plite. If sites like this can be posted, can not other sites expressing another view or approach? The Canadian - Israeli site I have proposed is balanced, and looks at both sides of the issues in that area. They can be supportive, and critical of Palestine, and Israel's actions. They are not totally to one side as many of the sites here seem to be.

The impression I'm getting is that the Tommy Douglas Institute may have a link and input, but the Fraser Institute just isn't "Canadian enough" and can't have a link. I think I'm wrong, but would like a bit of clarification.

(P.S. - Thanks for your support to post the Monarchist League of Canada's site. It is non partisan, and made up of every political persuasion, religion, background, etc. throughout Canada. A true Uniting factor of Canada...the Crown.)

Although I am not in the know about how the links get posted, you wouldn't really want people thinking that vive thinks that the Fraser Inst is a think tank, now would you? They just had their conservative love in to celebrate 30 years, Harper, Klein, were the big celebrants! The idea is to be a think tank, not a bias, conservative policy maker, Klein says he used their policies to design his government! If they want to be a pro-conservative group then they should so declare.

Jesse @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 11:07 am

Help me out; what list are you all talking about, exactly?

Mostly, those lists are made on the spur of the moment and are subject only to the memory and knowledge (or lack thereof) of the editor making the list. No conspiracies or attempts at slant.

If someone would be so kind as to make a 'comprehensive' list and post it on this topic, we'll make sure that the relevant updates are made. If it's broke, help us fix it! The same goes for anything else on vive; translations are also welcome.

civiltech @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 1:33 pm

Thanks for your resposne.

please refer to my first post listing websites of major political partys here in canada. I think it would be appropriate to have these sites updated into the links section.

Best regards,

Civil

Jesse @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 1:36 pm

Anyone is free to submit links to the 'links' section. When there, just click on the "add a link" item.

z_whalen @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 2:18 pm

Ok Jesse, I'm going to submit the following links:

Bloc Quebecois - http://www.blocquebecois.org/
Christian Heritage Party - http://www.chp.ca/
Conservative Party - http://www.conservative.ca/
Green Party - http://www.greenparty.ca/
Libertarian Party - http://www.libertarian.ca/
Liberal Party - http://www.liberal.ca/
Communist Party - http://www.communist-party.ca/
Marijuana Party - http://www.marijuanaparty.com/
Progressive Canadian Party - http://www.pcparty.org/
Marxist Leninist Party - http://www.cpcml.ca/

We'll see what happens.
Dr Caleb @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 2:38 pm

Thanks too!

Now, just to keep talking, ( ) The Conservative Party of canada was listed twice under the political party's section. Don't want any favourism!

I was hoping you could tell me where I would find the Canadian - Israeli site I have submitted under the links section. Still can't find it.

http://www.cicweb.ca/

Got a fact right whelan, way to go. But missed the point of the post entirely!!
Just ponder this for a while before responding..."Why exposure to one side, and not the other?" Thats it, thats all I was asking.

I think it has been resolved with Vive, and Vive has no issues with posting a variety of Canadian sites. This is good.
