You guys should read an article called Jihad vs Mcworld
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/foreign/barberf.htm
it was written back in 1992 and compares forces of free market capitalism(mcworld) and tribalisation(jihad). The US can be divided into three parts, government, business, and citizens, you could throw media in there too. A common misconception is that business and government care about each others interests, but business will strive to be efficient whether or not it matches US policy. George Bush sucks, and corporate globalization is pretty crappy too but those two hardly define America, at least to an AMerican. I don't want us to be in Iraq and a large portion doesn't want us to, of course a large portion does. It's all about whic party is in power, and I think that the Democrats are doing the best they can to stall as much of the Republican policy as they can even though they don't control Congress or the White House.
Anyway, I think that the Jihad vs McWorld article was a great read.
It kind of seems like a Catch 22, doesn't it Yossarian?
I really that if we keep fighting back...speaking out against inequality and stupidity...we can make a difference. Unfettered capitalism and government that concentrates solely on money drives fundamentalism and tribalism all over the world. Until we address that things will continue to look bleak.
Fair warning, folks.... CKA has been recognized on a rather LARGE, predominately American site today.
This could get interesting - some of the baseless emotional "US bashing"
is NOT going to fly, with these folks. You WILL be challenged!
Better get your ducks in a row, and have something factual to back yourself up with.
I think I'm going to find this entertaining....
What site is it, nonrev? Maybe we should perform a pre-emptive strike.
Ha Ha Ha ! ! ! Too funny, Pride!
Believe me - you'd be WAY out-numbered.... and they play Hardball.
But if you have the cajone's for it - http://www.rv.net/forum/
go to the bottom; "Around the Campfire"
But dont say I didnt warn ya!
Ok, so its around the campfire, but which topic?
Just wander around... but theres one even CALLED "Canada Kicks Ass". Another one about "Canadians for Bush"
lol someone quoted something I said:
The reason Canadians don't exagerate everything and don't get excited over little things is... Well, we've spent nearly 400 years beside the Americans, wouldn't you be a little depressed?
Cultural Differences Between Canadians and Americans
They seem like a fine bunch. Some seem a little over-confident of the greatness of their country, but we can teach 'em.
Of course, I may over-estimate the reaction. Many who have a peek may just laugh and leave, not giving a crap; wouldnt be the first time.
Well that was kind of my reaction to their site...
Boy, that Wingnut (1) (88) gets around!
So how come if he feels this site (cka) is so childlike and filled with those of low-intelligence does he feel the need to keep coming here and debating with us?
I wonder what Dr. Freud would say on this matter...........
He considers everybody who doesn't agree with him to be childish and of low intelligence.
I am Canadian but live in the states. It's not that I hate Americans or anything. Hell, I'm married to one. The thing is that living in the States, for 8 years I have learned alot about Americans. They will jokingly make fun of Canadians, ALL THE TIME. It really gets irritating. They all do it. They do know nothing about Canada. They expect everyone to know them and everything about them, but they are so self centered they don't bother learning about other countries. And just to let you Americans know, Canadians aren't like Americans. The people and the countries are completely different. We Canadians pride ourselves on this. American is a really nice place with tons of really nice people. Just saying. Americans are thick headed and have to be the best at everything. That's why they always make fun of us. They are very insecure. You can tell when you talk about the two countries. Well I'm done whinning. Oh yea by the way. The States does not have free health care. There are free facilities here but you might as well have a blind man treat you.
