Yank-in-NY Yank-in-NY:
So what's a Canadian from my point of view?

Tough fighters in war, and the best neighbors anyone could ask for. This is how I think of Canada and Canadians. Don't struggle to define yourselves to the world, the world doesn't listen anyway. Just be yourselves eh?

That is right damned classy of you. PDT_Armataz_01_37

The guy who wrote the site is just taking things I've seen for myself on this site and tossing them back at you, just the same as you folks do to us much of the time. Granted, it's a little much, but then so is most everything on the net.

The things that are absurd you laugh at.

But it is the things that have a grain of truth to them that really piss you off for the very reason that they have some truth to them.

I would fathom to say that someone in Canada (or several someones) must've really gotten under his skin with something to piss him off so much that he dedicated a site to his retort.

If you think about it, you folks actually tweaked him.

I guess he's entitled to his opinion. We have plenty of people up here who have similar feelings about the States.

Very Classy statements from Yank and Bart  PDT_Armataz_01_34

Avro Avro:
Yep it is and he did it without preaching to us and looking down on us like some people I know.

Avro, the only times I really get preachy and look down at you all from the pulpit is when I find myself thinking more highly about Canada than Canadians do. A lot of you have no appreciation for just how great your nation and your people really are. And a fair number are also possesed of a cynicism that seems to hold you in thrall to the idea that Canada's halcyon days have passed.

I believe that they are yet to come.

I can't preach that enough.

danikyvor @ Thu Mar 09, 2006 12:25 pm

Avro why do you have to go and ruin a perfectly nice compliment???

Wada @ Thu Mar 09, 2006 12:57 pm

Damn it Yank :D I was hoping to get that responce or something near it from a Canadian, but Heh! you summed it all up quite nicely.

Your comment about integration rings true. The wee town that I live in has it's share of immigrants but because the town is just that there is automatic integration, so to speak. None the less I do love visiting the city like New York at least used to be where you can visit China Town, Little Italy and etc.

I was always facinated by the different living experience between Manhattan and Jersey. Manhattan with it's borrows based on nationality and Jersey with everyone mixed up and living next door to who knows who. I think there is a place for both. Love New York by the way, friendliest place I've ever been, at least when I was young and cute.

Now let us all agree the opinions are like A**holes... everybody has one. That being said, not everybody takes the time and effort (wasted or not) to organize their thoughts in such a thoughtful (or thoughtless) way.

I do not agree with all that was said in the Blog that started this outrage, but it was entertaining and in places, down right hilarious. You can not say that it did not get you thinking. Isin't that the whole idea behind free speach?

Banff @ Thu Mar 09, 2006 1:25 pm

Avro ;

I agree that it is maddening that so many Canadians look to the South for Greatness when we already have it but I wouldn't say that the majority feel this way . Many sacrifices were made within many historical events such as building of the railroad . These people were of many nationalities . They were not simply english and french but the end result was Elite Hotels reaching from one end to the other .No longer are these sacrifices being made in the event of moving forward . We are taxed to death , incomes are enormous and prices are even worse leaving virtually no room to grow . Most peoples incomes come from tax recipient methods or Canada /US trade . The US has these same problems ie look in CKA news for the story related to Tahoe tax Reliefs and american protests to high land taxes . This story was also represented by The politician in a Maple Creek Saskatchewan artical . My whole family left the Canmore Banff region for the same reasons . Anyway my point is the same as a few Americans here have suggested.....we are a young country and have alot of things to sort out . As my father always said this is the best country in the world and he certainly has been around the block (so to speak) .....so I would agree it is shameful so many canadians feel they have to look south for greatness and maybe alot of americans feel that way too although some just don't realize how frustrating that has become when there really isn't much left to call canadian .
