Isin't that the whole idea behind free speach?
We never said he could not say that. We just know none of it is true.

Avro Avro:
Bort Bort:
A lot of you have no appreciation for just how great your nation and your people really are.

The ones you speak of are the ones who are always looking south for greatness when it already exsists here.

American wanna be's take notice and fuck off.....pardon my french. :D

You can send them to us, we'll happily take them. Thinking about it, we've taken a lot of them. Turns out that these wannabes are also among Canada's best and brightest people and they make wonderful Americans. We always have room for more Canadians down here. Canada's greatest contribution to cross-border amity has always been Canadians.

Any list of the greatest Canadians will inevitably list a majority of Canadian expatriates.

See, now I envision a Canada where Canada's best and brightest don't have to come to the USA to prosper and follow their dreams.

Wanna-be's are the very heart and soul of a nation's future for they are the dreamers. You really need to make Canada a place where Canadians can pursue their dreams. As I said, Canada's halcyon days are ahead of her, not behind her. The wannabe's are the ones who want Canada to be great.

Avro Avro:
Nice comment preacher to bad you don't believe it.

If you did you would reside here.

I'll be up in May for three weeks. You're welcome to come to Victoria and visit if you'd like.

My two jobs are in the USA and if my tech firm still had a Vancouver or Montreal office I'd happily be there...but we closed those offices due to costs being cheaper in Seattle and Chicago.

I'd also have to resign my commission to move up there permanently and that's not on my list of things to do anytime soon. In the interim the only thing going to Canada is my money.

My point was that it it at least got a debate going on what it is to truly BE canadian and what we think about our canadian identity. Also how we are precieved by others. That is something most american don't understand how they are seen by others and the reactions they get back. Perhapes THAT is a true canadian value. We spend a lot of time concidering other point of views and how we will be seen. Or is that a failling

Wada Wada:
Damn it Yank :D I was hoping to get that responce or something near it from a Canadian, but Heh! you summed it all up quite nicely.

Your comment about integration rings true. The wee town that I live in has it's share of immigrants but because the town is just that there is automatic integration, so to speak. None the less I do love visiting the city like New York at least used to be where you can visit China Town, Little Italy and etc.

I was always facinated by the different living experience between Manhattan and Jersey. Manhattan with it's borrows based on nationality and Jersey with everyone mixed up and living next door to who knows who. I think there is a place for both. Love New York by the way, friendliest place I've ever been, at least when I was young and cute.

Thanks Wada, I was hoping you would take it well as it was your comment that prompted my response. Sometimes it takes someone from the "outside" to point out things. This is true for Canadians, Americans and everyone else. A society needs to look inwards and take constructive criticism from the outside.

One of the primary reasons I love the US is for it's ability to never remain static, it is constantly reinventing itself, endlessly trying to fix mistakes, create new ones, and hopefully learn from them. Sometimes its for the worse and sometimes for the best.

I like New York also, it has always been what I consider the great American experiment. We've tested industrialization first, immigration, unionization and many more "firsts" that have slowly echoed throughout the US.

Back to what I was saying, I truly believe history defines a people, you are just beginning to create your own Canadian history. I'm am NOT knocking the history you have, it is just that it has always been somehow "attached" to the UK, so now you're on your own.

I can easily see Canada becoming an even more great nation in the years to come. I'm cool with that, great freinds and allies like you guys. :D

Just a thought. Most canadians go to the U.S. to prosper (and most times do). Most americans come to canada to hide or use the land & resorces.

True on both accounts, I'm afraid.

Canadians usually come south in pursuit of something, Americans usually go north because someone's pursuing them.

Lately, you good people have been kind enough to extradite them back!
