You're right but Canada is a part of the Anglosphere.

It would not bother me to need a passport to go to the US.
The only reason I would go is to see relatives in Florida, and see some Spring Training baseball, especially the Blue Jays.
Went to Buffalo several times.
Good reason to not go!!!!
