I just meant that from what I understand, people across the country, including Ontario and Quebec are getting fed up with the liberals. I know the West on our own could never decide the next government.

I think this news release says it all, I give up

Perhaps look at the % of popularity out of BC, thats a shock 8O

Grits will win again, says poll
No doubt Paul Martin will be PM

By BILL RODGERS, SUN OTTAWA BUREAU
[/size]
OTTAWA -- Sixty-nine per cent of Canadians believe Paul Martin will lead the federal Grits to a fourth consecutive victory in the next election, a SES/Sun Media poll suggests.

The national survey of 1,000 people conducted between Aug. 24 and Sept. 2 found just seven per cent didn't believe the former finance minister would win.

Twenty-four per cent wouldn't say or were unsure.

"Canadians generally have high expectations of Paul Martin," said Nik Nanos, president and CEO of SES Canada Research Inc., adding the poll found Martin currently "has an image as a winner and a person with a strong vision for the future who will change things in Ottawa."

But the poll also shows Martin has some political vulnerabilities. Only 38% of those interviewed said Martin shares the views of average Canadians - 35% disagreed.

On another important issue, 42% said Martin was somebody they could trust - 31% disagreed.

Martin leaves his political opponents in the dust when the SES/Sun Media poll asks Canadians who would make the best prime minister.

Forty-nine per cent chose Martin as the best man for the job. Alliance Leader Stephen Harper was picked by just 10%, while Tory Leader Peter MacKay and NDP Leader Jack Layton are tied at 8%. Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe is hardly a blip on the national public radar at 2%, based on responses from interviews in Quebec only.

Martin's popularity is highest in Quebec (60%), British Columbia (53%), and Ontario (52%).

His lowest numbers come from Alberta (24%), Manitoba and Saskatchewan (39%), and Atlantic Canada (47%

Yes, bufurd, you are halarious. Yup. A chimp would do a better job the jean, but you said something earlier that kinda proved my point you said

Make it Martin, he will be the next, We havn't even voted yet. Are you telling us this is a slam dunk. Wow, are you from Alberta with the kind of insight??? You see, pure frustration, we already know it's going to be a friggin liberal bonehead that runs our beautiful and diverse Canada. This saddens me. We have no choice, We have no Voice.

But I still think your hallarious     woo hoo

Just because you don't agree - that means it isnt' valid. Is that what you're saying??

You sound like a little kid. "If I don't get my way I'm taking my ball and going home". How old are you anyway?

Don't be so sure about Martin as next PM. Look at what happenned in BC to the NDP when people got fed up with them.

Ahhh, ya, dont mean to slam you, but ya, look at what happened to BC. I dont know if Ottawa even knows where to find our two provinces. Maybe Alberta cuz of our oil and gas, the leeches. Any way, BC is the same as AB, no voice. But I hear ya

Anyway, We just dont have the population to match ontario even with the 4 prairie provinces put together, unfortunately.

Beckie, you sound like a bitter person. You say BC is the same as Alberta, then post stats indicating otherwise.

Beckie @ Sun Sep 14, 2003 10:56 pm

Ya bookie, i'm old enough to be your mother and send you to your room. Probably wouldn't give you any supper either, you bad monkey you.
It really hard not to be bitter when you know your vote doesn't count. That could change one day though.

Spoiled kid, nah, thats just how you see it in your jaded little world.

Rev_Blair @ Mon Sep 15, 2003 5:04 am

Your vote does count though, Becks. There are MPs from Alberta in Parliament every day. The Official Opposition hails from your neck of the woods, for the most part. There are even Liberal MPs from Alberta. You are represented. That representation may not be getting you what you want because the needs of all Canadians need to be considered, but you are represented.

Beckie @ Mon Sep 15, 2003 9:29 am

Funny, nobody seems to hear what Albertans have to say, I'm lost in the crowd of people who feel the same. Liberals represent what they want, not what the people want. Crying shame. Defend it if you must, we have no voice. Ontario and Quebec run the show.

Do you actually live in Latin America or is it actually Niverville Manitoba?

Canuck_105 @ Mon Sep 15, 2003 4:14 pm

The West isn't actually well represented. A majority government can be formed without any seats from West of Ontario so the government basically ignores us. 2 examples:

Toronto whined about a loss of tourism because of SARS when it affected the entire country. They got I think $30 million for a concert. In Western Canada there has been SARS, Mad Cow, Wheat Tarifs, Softwood Lumber Tarifs, Drought and Fires. We have recieved no compensation from the Feds for SARS and the Drought, very little for Mad Cow, <$10 million for lumber, and nothing for the fires.
The West also gets most of Canada's criminals. I live within 30 minutes drive from several prisons, from low to high security. All the highest risk offenders get sent out here and then escape or get early parole.

Maybe now some Easterners will understand that the West doesn't have true representation. I don't expect to have just as many seats in parliament from the West as East because we don't have as many people. Just don't give the East so many seats that they choose the government.

As for our next PM, once the parties take their stand on the issues I think the Liberals are going to lose much of their support.

Since this thread is about Bush, how about some updated views on how the first chimp to make a successful carrier landing is doing his job :

Something wrong with Niverville, Becks? I've been there a couple of times and it seemed like a nice little town...friendly, in that Manitoba way.

Good articles about your erstwhile commander in chief, Buford. Are you guys even having elections anymore or do Rummy and Wolfie just get together in the White House basement with Tom Ridge and count the bribes?

Ouch!! If I were from Niverville or anywhere in Manitoba I would be greatly insulted. Where is Robair??

Did your shrink not tell you it is a sign of lack of self-confidence to try and put others down?

I am sure a moderator can verify that I am, in fact, in the neo-tropics although I hope to return home soon. Maybe we should trade places. Seeing the misery and poverty here might make you appreciate Canada a little more.

No, my job is working with CANADIAN CITIZENS in Poverty and misery. Witnessing nothing being done by our Government makes me want to stay and do my part to help these people. My heart goes out to the ones I see daily. This is within 5 miles of my home, I need not go half way around the world to witness something I virtually see in my own back yard daily. Take care of our own first and then expand, and I appreciate Canada as much as you, just not the politicians who have taken us to the edge.

God Bless the Children

Actually, Alberta is making out better on a compensation/damage basis than Ontario if you compare the effects of SARS and mad cow. $30 million won't even come close to covering the estimated $2 billion that was/is lost.

Foresters in Quebec haven't received any more for softwood lumber and money is already promised for the fires.

FYI people in TO don't whine. It's not chic. 8)

I take it you're taking about the Klein government.

For the record I do not beleive that you can compare the dirt poor (literally dirt poor) poverty I see here however I will not get into a pissing match about this. It's all bad.
