I just wnat to make things clear about my view of the AMericans. I definetly would prefer the democrats over the republicans, especialy since they have hte popular vote (how stupid is that, Democrats have the majority but couldnt win...)
However, in my view, AMericans are Americans whether hte democrats are in power or republicans. Bush fought this ilegal war on Iraq. He still couldnt prove his argument about WMD, and the only reason why the world sees Saddam as a bad leader is because of US propaganda, has anyone in the world truely seen the piles and piles of body? Ive seen a few dead bodies, but who knows, the Americans may have killed them. I am not ruling out the fact that Saddam is a tyrant, and I am not ruling out the fact that he has WMD, but Bush in my view is worst than Saddam, and Bush has more WMD than anyone in the world. But does anyone step up to attack the US? No.... France has to do more to stop the war than just talk, China did nothing to stop the US and arguably, China can easily counter the US power, but they didnt.
As for the democrats, Yugaslavia? IrAQ Air Strikes? Those arent any better than the US war on "democracy" by the republicans.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX However, im a pacifist, so war against any country, including the US I will be against, so lets rule that out as a possibility.
And it is well documented that Lefties are less corupt than Righties! Extreme Righties, include Hitler, Bush, Sharon... possibly two of the worst leaders one can imagine in terms of atrocities world wide.

Don't fool yourself about Saddam, Matrix...he's killed plenty of people. He's a monster. The US government, especially the Republicans, most especially the Bush family and those now running the Bush cabinet are so intrinsically involved as to be morally inseparable from Saddam though. That goes for a lot of other nations too...from the Middle East to South America to Asia...have freaks in charge who can be traced back to US foreign policy.
Or Russian foriegn policy, or French, or German, or British or just about anyother major nation on Earth.
Give it up, Pole. The USSR is finished, has been since they possed off Lech Walesa. France, England, Germany, Holland and the rest haven't been trying trying to dominate the world for a long time, most recently over half a century ago. It's the US, especially under the Bush Doctrine, that's trying to impose its will on the rest of the earth. You might want to try learning a little history, dude.
Guys,
I really do not want to offend anyone here but why is it that any person who openly proclaims themselves as pacifists must in the same breath say america sucks (directly or indirectly)? Is this not the same close minded response Canadian pacifists blame the Pro-war Americans of when they talk about Canada? I just think that you all are getting eaten up inside over the U.S. and Bush. Listening to you guys you would think that there is only one nation in this world who is corrupt or has hurt another nation...that being America. It would lend alot more credit to your arguements if, for once, one of you would spend just 10% of YOUR time not bashing America but critiquing other world powers. Lets talk about Russia for a while, or France and England's destruction of the New world and the Native Americans cultures (North and South--Canada included) Your war drums are becoming quite numbing to the ears. I like and respect you guys so lets start saying something new.
BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH---I am don't spewing guys
Have a good night
Kurt
Because White House staff hadn't cleaned the crayon off the big globe yet?
You're kind of right IronMike, a lot of powers have done a lot of bad things. The way we treat our natives up here is embarrassing, for example. The US is the dominant power in the world right now though, arguably has been since the end of WWII. In the last twenty-five years or so it has acted almost solely in its own interests no matter what that meant to countries affected by those actions and has worked against reforms that could have made the world a better place.
While claiming to spread peace and democracy the US has committed acts of atrocity and aided others to commit such acts. At the same time it has refused to join in on treaties like the ones about land mines and war criminals. Lately it has been unilaterally backing out of treaties limiting nuclear proliferation and live weapons in space. Under Bush the US has shown a complete disregard for following international law even while condemning others who don't follow those same laws.
Don't even get me started on trade issues.
I really think that the US has gotten lost. What should be a shining beacon of democracy, something for other countries to aspire to, has been hijacked by a bunch of rich guys with no scruples or morals and no respect for anything but money.
Besides, this thread is called Canada/US. If you really want some insight into the relationship between our two countries you might want to pay attention.
I have to admit, a lot of people on this forum are Anti-American, however, I just want to make clear about my view (Although I am not speaking for everyone here), I disrespect the government of hte US, but the people I have no problem with unless that person shares the same views as Bush.
At my university campus, I have an AMerican friend, hes from Rochester new York, however, he hates the republicans more than any anti-American activist, sooo I respect him because he didnt fall for the propaganda.
As for other nations other than the US causing harm, well, when England was the super empire of the world, France was the only opposition. England owned more territory than any other nation, and forced assimilation among the population. France isnt as extreme, however, they have caused a lot of harm world wide as well.
But right now, hte United States is the superpower, therefore they are the ones causing the worlds troubles today (at least most of it anywayz)Therefore, the more opposition the better
Matrix, for some one here with only 11 posts you seem to have waded right in looking to start shit here... How about you tone things down some what ok?
I think IRONMIKE hits the nail-on-the-head. I've met lots of Americans who hate Bush & Republican policies in general. But don't paint all Americans with the same brush-Bush?! Crossing "the great socialist (border) line only means that politicians here have our "best interests" in mind when they pilfer our tax money. As long as they blab about how socially "just" Canada is, we fucking buy it! ...and forget about it! I think Canadians have far more trust in their politicians than they should. A British "class" system, albeit subtle, exists here in Canada. Once they become MP's, they join the club (especially lap-dog liberals), and the "unwashed masses" have their decisions made for them. Hey Buf: wanna fast-track that application? Become a black, french-speaking cripple, who has been beaten by a spouse, DOESN'T smoke cigarettes (pot is ok), spit on the U.S.-its popular here in public, and be prepared to jump into a 40-60% tax-bracket if ya make more than ten-bucks-an hour! Welcome home!
what happened to freedom of speech? I didnt know there was some sorta class structure here, if thats the case, I mine as well go to sovietska.net
