During hurricane Katrina, National Guard units were ordered to confiscate guns belonging to New Orleans residents.
If i remember, they were using those firearms to shoot at police
and rescue services.. takes a real man to shoot at an ambulance..
Training is one thing.. operation is another..
Gives me the heebeegeebees
I'm alright with soldiers being trained to pacify citizens since a situation where this would be necessary might arise - though I really strongly hope the soldiers will always remain critical enough to see when "necessary" is. The day soldiers blindly follow *all* orders, disregarding the basic principles of their own country, is the day government officially wins over the entire people.
Fascinating... Disturbing....
"...all enemies foreign and domestic..."
Troops have been deployed many times to restore order---and safety.
Detroit riots, LA riots, New Orleans.....
Get real! Like the man says you can't have punks shooting at ambulances and fire-trucks.
Such break-downs involve looting and all manner of assaults on innocents.
During the LA riots this idiotic notion prompted the governor to order the guard ontyo the streets with no ammo and publicly announced this.......As Bart posted, the Marines deployed from Twentynine Palms were not subject to that stupid order. A gang banger did a drive-by at the marines and promptly got himself and his car shredded.
I don't have a problem with that---in fact it is hilarious.
Maybe they're planning to invade Canada
So what, they're training in case an event happens in which marshal law would have to be decreed. This could simply be in response to a catastrophic event be it natural or an act of terror.
Oh and I can’t resist pointing this out, you are posting an article which seems to be critical of the US training their military for Martial Law and yet you have a picture P.E.T. as your avi’. ???? Whats with that?
heheheh FLQ... he's too young...
geez, does shooting at amblulances count ??
I wonder if cops get the same questionaire.
