It's not unheard of for immigrants to change their names to more 'western' names when they move....quite a few of my chinese friends have done so.

Guys I know will usually just laugh and roll their eyes if you ask their real name. They've seen people's eyes glaze over enough times to realize we're a short name society...

That's what immediately stood out to me.. when I first read about this in the Ottawa Citizen, all of the names of the accused were Muslim names. Now one of them has an Christian name? I'm confused.
