Well tomorrow begins the final round of group stage matches with the potential for a number of big guns to go home. England, France, Italy, and maybe even Germany have to win (and in France's case win big) to progress to the knock-out stage.
The story so far is the dominance of the South American teams who are all favoured to make it to the next round even smaller teams like Chile and Paraguay. All the more pleasing is the style of their wins. Each team is playing with attack on hte mind and flair on the field as opposed to the defensive anti-soccer of Europe (save fore the frist Germany game mind you).
Of course, the real stories so far are the lack of cohesion in the English team and the scandalous antincs of the French team. What began with a heated exchange at halftime between striker Nicolais Anelka and the manager has turned into a full sclae mutiny. Each player now is a pariah in France and the team is a national embarassment.
Europeans on the defensive instead of the offensive speaks more to their collective culture than just to their manner of play.
The English football team won't get a good reception when they get home either. Over-paid wankers that can't get their act together.
They are more interested in themselves than the sporting honour of England. Tossers.
No, England have not done themselves proud to this point. One more chance against Slovenia, and then it's on to the next round or yet another disappointment on the world stage.
Spain was magic to watch today. Brilliant. It's nice to see my wife getting into football too. She's a big Spain fan and even has a picture of Fernando Torres as her screensaver. Except he's at the beach and not playing soccer--what's with that?
I don't think they'll do much against Slovenia Zip. I've been here so many times before.....sob....

The
wogs beating the
wankers. There's something
poetic in that.
Don't worry, my friend, it's not as if the UK will lose to the US.

He's just recovering from an injury that almost ruled him out of the World Cup.

And they truly are wankers. The only real Anglo-Saxons have been the Kiwi's! Bugger!

I bet they'll win 1-0 very unconvincingly and lose on penalties in the next round.

No kidding. If they keep the good work up they'll earn the right to do their own Haka in no time.

That's a pretty safe bet!

Played well today though. Lots of chances, but didn't have his finish with him. Back healthy next year to return Liverpool to their rightful place atop the Premier League, I hope.

Hot damn I called that one! And considering they're playing Germany next, now they'll definitely lose on penalties.

And so far the surprise of the tournament is the early exit of the Italian Champions. I can't say I'm too surprised though. They had a old, creaky defence and an aging midfield in a group of young, hungry teams, this was inevitable.
Anyway, the last of the group games go tomorrow with the match of the day being Spain v. Chile.

Now there's a picker-upper for the poor Italian fans out there. ![Drool [drool]](./images/smilies/droolies.GIF)
