Fidel Castro has died.

What's ironic is that Castro created for his country exactly what righties want right now: a homogeneous society where all who disagree are disappeared.
Nonsense. It's the left in Canada and the US that is calling for censorship of dissenting opinion and in some cases jail or death for those who dare to oppose the group think.
Bullshit. Pure bullshit.

Conservatives the world over openly admired the likes of Batista and Pinochet among others because they "opened their markets" ie signed over their country and natural resources to US business interests
So all business is run by Conservatives?

Huh?????

Where'd you get that idea? Examples?
It's righties who speak of booting Muslims, building walls, the evils of multiculturalism, "white power", Christian values trumping all others, etc. That's exactly Castro's playbook:
homogenize society, remove dissenters. I've never heard any lefties trumpet those notions.Errr.......
http://www.calgaryherald.com/christie+b ... story.htmlJust because nobody has died in these sorts of events doesn't mean it's not oppression of dissent. As with the left on university campuses so too with the likes of the Trumpians out to quash and punish anyone in the GOP who stood against them during the primaries and the election. And, onward, so too with any other organization anywhere on the planet, because the first urge of anyone with power is to use it to harm their enemies until they submit. Or to destroy them, both figuratively and all too often literally as well. It's basic human nature that transcends the falseness of the left/right spectrum.

Yeah, as usual, both sides are guilty... my problem is with people who don't see that.

So hear's my groaner for today and it's about "MSM" our own Globe&Mail
Celebrations take place on the streets of Havana after Fidel Castro's death
Click the link, you get the same video of Americans celebrating in "Little Havana", not Cubans in Cuba. Shame on the G&M.
As for everyone else no deviation from the norm of black or white is to be even considered by blockheads, so what's the point of discussion? Even though 100% of this forum knows and admits Castro was a dictator as does JT (if you bother to even click on any newfeed) you're talking with people who think punching someone in the face repeatedly will make them your friend.
Diplomatic skill is far, far beyond their pay grade.
So who wants to toss advantages away in a country that's going to change like Cuba? RBC, Hydro, Bombardier, etc don't have a 50 year historically shit-stain hanging over their heads. If our ambassador quietly reminds Raoul his time is short and it would be nice to leave a legacy, let us help your gov't transition... you think he'll say no he's gonna listen to Trump instead? FFS get real.
shit forgot to include it. here's that G&M link

Copy editors ain't what they used to be in the old days. It's not part of the allegedly grand lefty media conspiracy or anything but the mainstream corporate media certainly doesn't do it's reputation any favours with their poorly-written/confusing headlines, bad grammar, and far too many typos. They're supposed to be professionals at this, not as pathetically amateurish as the kids goofing around on SnapChat.

What's funny about that quote is that is was published in 2015... after the fact... and it's never been proven?
I actually predicted in 1969 that Trump would win the presidency in 2016.
Really? Aren't you the clever fellow? I predicted this.

I predicted it when I saw this:
Margaret Trudeau fondly remembers 1976 trip to Cuba and the ‘charming’ dictator who cuddled her baby

The childish fascination that liberal dilettantes from the 1970's still have with Marxist dictators is as equally pathetic as the need Cold Warrior conservatives still have to paint them as blood-soaked demons incapable of any human qualities at all. And there's probably no shortage today of right-wingers who are still more than willing to list off the greatness of the likes of Ferdinand Marcos, Suharto, Mobutu, a boatload of various Muslim despots, and the entirety of the Central/South American militarist meat-packing glitterati circa 1920 thru to today.
raydan @ Sun Nov 27, 2016 2:23 pm
The difference between Communism and Capitalism is that in Communism, you have only one dictator.

Even more recently. Look at all the righties who jerk off over Putin and Assad and their "strong leadership".
