That's too bad. The people who founded my country believed that the people should be able to trust their government and that the question of whether or not the government trusted them was irrelevant.
Canadians are not trusted by their own government to defend themselves.

You're not even allowed to own property so I suppose it follows that the rights once afforded to English peasants should not be afforded to mere serfs.

What about a law abiding citizens right? Just because criminals use guns doesn't mean law abiding citizens should have their rights stripped from them.

The question isn't whether you see the need for anyone to own/use a gun but why should people who do see the need be denied?
I support a great deal of things that I don't personally partake in and gun ownership/usage is one of them.
In my life I don't feel I need one and I don't pursue hobbies associated with them but I don't see why others can't?
Gun bans won't stop crime or even minimize it. Gun control only deprives freedom to responsible citizens. I hope we don't ban the things you enjoy.

In a free and just society - given reasonable assurances that a person will not become a danger to themselves or others - 'I want to' is a perfectly valid reason for doing or owning anything. This applies to everything from wanting to hold a gay pride parade to wanting to own a gun.
I have no violent mental disorders. I have no criminal record or history of violence. I have no *speeding* tickets. I want to own a gun.
