NDP apologizes to rookie MP Brosseau for changing her resume
Did somebody say potatos?
Zipperfish Zipperfish:
It was the Conservatives and the Liberals that raised the allegations. And I don't see a lot of liberals or Liberals in this thread going after this woman. It seems mostly the same old right-wing reactionaries.
So when a man and his wife come forth saying they never signed her paperwork, all parties are expected to turn a blind eye and give her a pass cause she's a newbie?
Come on Zip, you know better.
And yea, you don't see a lot of Liberals on here going after her, mainly because most of them have gone into hiding with the exception of Derby.
Bodah Bodah:
Oh boo-hoo.
I was wondering how long it would take until the stop picking on her howls of protest would begin. It begs the question though, would those on the left do the same if the situation was reversed ? Didn't think so. Don't get that sanctimonious on us because of the situation. We didn't cause it.
No, I don't think so. This whole "24/7 attack ad" approach is peculiar to the Conservatives, in Canada. I guess they spent so long in opposition they really don't know how to do much else other than attack others.

Welcome to the new reality of Canadian politics.
Attack ads work. Period.
Jack Layton should thank Stephen Harper. Not only did the CPC ads help the CPC, they defined Ignatieff as a poor leader and made Layton the only choice on the left. And that's not coming from me, that's coming from insider Liberals.

No, I do't think it's because the Liberals are in hiding. It's because that's just the
modus operandi of
homo Conservitus. It's the Dick Cheney School of Politics--it didn't work down south, and I don't think it'll work up here.
The Conservatvies should focus on governing, and creating a vision for the Canada of the future that Canadians can buy in to.

Yes, well attack ads used to be the "new reality" of American politics, as well. Then along came Obama, who eschewed the vitriol and ran a campaign based on a positive message, and the rest is history.
Jack Layton ran a positive campaign and did very because of it, in my opinion.

Don't think it'll work up here? It's worked for the last 10+ years! It's worked for the Liberals and it's working now for the Conservatives.
Will there come a time when these ads are no longer effective? Sure, but it's hard to tell when that time will come. The election in 2015 will be interesting to watch.

Meh. Certainly it has been argued that the Conservative attack ads were effective against the Liberals, but you could just as easily make the case that the Liberal campaign--including its own attack ads--was startlingly weak all around.
What can't be discounted is that Jack Layton ran a positive campaign outlining his vision for Canada and the NDP did well with it. And it worked for Obama.
Personally I think this whole Brosseau thing backfired on her detractors. They look like the kids that pull wings off flies now. Admittedly, the media were among the first of the hyenas cirlcing the senasational, salacious, and controversial Ms Brosseau. But now it looks like the nomination papers were in order, her French is not as bad as advertised, the local Mayors are impressed with her. Even the right-wing National Post called her "composed" and "confident."

Cute too.

Cute too.
How dare you bring that up, you sexist pig!
I was just telling Eyebrock that I was wondering if that was one of the reason I've been so unstinting in her defence.

It's just nice to see a good looking woman among all those hairy armpitted Dipper feminists. And she has a pleasant personality too. Not like all those hot, right wing harridans. Good to look at, couldn't see taking one to bed for the life of me.

I would take Ann Coulter to bed just to see the look on her face whan I asked "So what's the chances of one up the pooper, then?"
And if Ms Brosseaus tenure as MP serves to bring hordes of cute young women over to the socialist cause, then she will have indeed served her party well.

Try this: "If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the greater his effort the heavier the world bore down upon his shoulders - What would you tell him?"
I…don't know. What…could he do? What would you tell him?"
To shrug." and say it like you mean it. I'm sure Ann's pooper would be readily acessible to you. Personally I wouldn't go near that shit with a ten foot pole.

That she is.
She does get props for trying to pull it together and facing the press considering the circumstances, very brave of her.
I don't agree with the NDP, but she seems genuine and is putting an honest effort into it.
