Yea, but that nerd isn't voted into his dot com job. He worked to get there. Bad comparison.

Not really. Any guffawing, unless it comes after 2015 is just that, guffawing. More a mark on the chortler than on the subject. Besides, what are the requirements for being a member of Parliament these days? Apart from getting more votes than anyone else running that is? If she makes a complete mess of it in the next four, than go at it. Otherwise SHE IS AN ELECTED MP AND WE ARE NOT! If anyone should be laughing its:Image

and of course:

Keep laughing

Hence my posts on this. She got elected for doing fuck all.

She hadn't even been to the riding.

Ever.

But you defend her? That says more about you mate than her.

Oh yea, she needs her roots dyed.

If you mean I defend her being elected by the people of her riding, yep, guilty. Last time I checked they were free to vote for whomever they wished. Even if the general disapproves!

Yeah really, all she did was fill out some paperwork. That's it.

Not the same thing at all.

Every party runs candidates for just the sake of having a name on the ballot in ridings they do not think they have a prayer of winning. Ms Brosseau admitted to taking a more cavalier attitude than most regarding the campaign process. She has stated publicly that she had never been to the riding prior to being elected and wash holidaying in Vegas during the election. If she had received the odd vote and the Bloc candidate had won by a landslide then her non campaign never would have made the news and this thread never would have started. It was what the NDP expected when the made her their candidate for the riding.

The electorate had a different view and seemed to drop the Bloc in favour of the NDP in a totally unexpected degree. No one going into this election thought the Bloc would be wiped out to the level they were. So for whatever reason Ms Brosseau is the new MP for the riding and it is her performance as an MP that should be the focus instead of the campaign or lack of it. There are riding in ALberta where you could run the pet dog under the conservative banner and get it elected over a Liberal candidate.

Since May 2 MS Brosseau has been coached by her party and has stood up to some pretty strong press scrums. The attention she is getting is more like the leader of the opposition instead of a new back bencher. Her public performance has not been that bad. I am more inclined to sit back and see if she actually does a decent job or implodes. Either way it can make for some interesting future threads.

She does need to learn that a constipated look is not a smile.

Yep, she should take lessons from Steve "Smiley" Harper. Now there's a genuine smile.

Actually it is. If a corner of his mouth twitches, you know for a fact he's really amused. He doesn't pretend.

People are still feuding over this? lol

Wow.

It seems the media is neglecting the crucial point that she was a placeholder candidate.

Dragon-Dancer @ Mon May 16, 2011 8:36 am

Well, placeholder no longer. For good or ill I doubt she will be seeing any real position of authority this time around anyway. Beyond that, as long as she works for her constituents as best she can then nothing else matters.

I can't say the same thing and I highly suspect, you can't either.

I have to go with Thanos here. It is all so funny.

This whole thing has been a black-eye for the NDP and the voters of her riding.

And for the Conservative and Liberal attack dogs. And for the media who made all kinds of false accusations.

I really wonder how much the Harper Conservatveis get democarcy. They seem to have some real problems grasping some of teh basics, like accountability to Parliament or the idea that the cadndiate who gets the most votes gets the seat.
