This is the long form of the Graphic Raydan provided above. To fix this remove Bobby Kotick.

"Valheim"

I wasn't actually looking forward to it. I didn't know it was coming.

But for $30, why not? Several people on my Steam list play it, so I tried it.

Basically, "Rust" in Scandinavian heaven. It's not bad, and looks like it has potential. It's small - ~1GB, but seems much bigger. It is Early access, and will be for a year.

Valheim crosses 6 million sales mark, teases first big update

My impressions from the first 120 hours of play; 8O :!:

It's very repetitive. Like most games of the genre, you do a lot of grinding. The days are very short. About 20 minutes, and unlike may others, the environment changes at night. You can be out sneaking up on gathering blueberries, when a giant troll comes up behind you and tried to shove a tree up your ass. They don't die easy, and you do. Then there are the flaming skeletons in the swamps. You don't want to in the swamps at night, so you spend half the day getting someplace, and the other half returning to warmth and safety.

You could stick to the meadows, where life is good and simple. But the Forest and the Swamps have all the good items. If you want to fight harder, you need to get the metals from the other places to forge weapons and armour.

And once you have all the weapons and armour, at night as the sun fades, occasionally there will suddenly be an co-ordinated attack on you - wherever you are. Sometimes by Grey Dwarves, sometime the dregs of the swamp, and sometimes by half a dozen Trolls with their unlubed trees. (I hate those the most.) You likely won't survive these attacks, as it seems the more you progress, the worse they become. Even harder apparently, if you are playing multiplayer.

You also have to build a lot of storage, as this genre of games leaves you with stockpiles of crap you never know if you will need. I have hundreds of Grey Dwarf eyes that you can't eat, and can't spend at the NPC supervised tradeing place.

But getting the upgraded sea going ships is worth it. Gliding on a longboat over the ocean to see what is over the horizon is what this game is about. Until the Sea Serpents show up.

The Latest Big No Man's Sky Update Adds Seasonal Expeditions

Wandering aimlessly through procedurally-generated space is fun, but some pilots want a more guided experience. Today’s “Expeditions” update for No Man’s Sky adds a new seasonal game mode that has players starting off on the same planet for pre-plotted adventures across the universe.

Expedition mode is a season-long pre-planned journey through the stars. Players begin on the same planet with a varied collection of tech, new ships, weapons, and the like. From there they follow their Expedition planner, undergoing missions, discovering new locations, and reaching milestones together, as a community. Players will earn patches for completing expedition goals, while earning all sorts of new technological rewards that can be shared across their No Man’s Sky account. Sounds like the more targeted “something to do” players like me have been craving for years. You can read all about it in the Expeditions Update patch notes.

The update also introduces various quality of life updates for players, as these updates always do. Look for a revamped UI and game HUD, the return of procedurally-generated weekend missions, rendezvous points where players can catch up with each other, and bunches more.

Yup. We started a new 'expedition' this week, called 'Beachhead'. ;) There was a clue given at one of the task endings: ". . .the weapon is coming". 8O

Read the article above. I think it's really cool that Mass Effect and No Mans' Sky are doing a crossover.

I'm still a fan of the oldies - I just got Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 to work on my Win7 laptop.

But Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 Is Now Playable On Your Web Browser:
