Chretien obviously didn't care about the safety of the country's servicemen when he cancelled the EH-101 helocopter, at considerable expense too, merely for an election time punch line.
Not to mention it was Chretien who got us financially involved in the F-35.

Jean Chreitien obviously didn't care about Canada because a personal vendetta was more important.

How many Canadian Servicemen died because of that political decision?

Liberals ensured Canada was involved to keep our aerospace industry current. And for profit. Liberals committed $135 million government dollars, in exchange for $800 million in contract for research/development and manufacturing. Liberals never said we would buy the thing. But Americans convinced Harper Conservatives that Liberal involvement somehow created a commitment to buy it. And Harper Conservative believed this lie. At first they announced they would spend billions for increased industrial involvement, increasing it to billions. But government spending would be greater than the contracts, so a loss. Then they talked about replacing the CF-18 with F-35, until Lockheed-Martin drastically increased the price. It was way too expensive to start with, but with the price increase it became ridiculous. The Conservative story changed so often that I forget all the numbers.
