apparently, you have comprehension problems!
or would you just stop putting words into my mouth?
You insinuated I wasn't correct because it conflicts with what Streaker said.
i said what i said and it wasn't that you never saw a woman with naked breasts!
now you stop speculating! same goes for the "violence talk"!

You are seriously telling me, I can go shopping topless?
No. Most stores have a no shirt, no shoes, no service policy. Basically anywhere where it would be appropriate for men to go topless, women can too. Say on the sidewalk during a hot day, at the beach, at the park, etc.
Cool!

I didn't know that. Not that I would do it, because I don't think it is appropriate, but that it is allowed is cool.
you're just a PRUDE! did you know it? and you're ahsamed of your body, too!

Then care to explain to me why you spend so much time putting down rare cases of nudity at parades (that your children don't even attend) while spending no time at all addressing the much greater problem of what your kids do have to see on a regular basis?

Aren't women allowed to go topless pretty much anywhere in Canada nowadays?.....
Yup.
do they exercise this right every now and then?
Hardly ever.

that's the point! we are human beings and can control our desires for fun when it comes to intertacting with the society! no prudance in it! simple respect and readiness for a compromise
Maybe that's it but I still suspect that prudishness plays a role for a lot of women who might otherwise consider going topless - perhaps not their own prudishness so much as that of passersby who would give them grief for it, no doubt.
Personally, I don't see anything disrespectful in a woman being topless, but society is probably not ready for it on a widespread scale yet.
That day will come, though.
even when it's way tooo hot outside, i'd still prefer to wear bra at the very least... ya know, just caring about my breasts! would you belive that i would do it not out of prudishness?
and i can admit that perhaps somebody wouldn't welcome my nudity in public places, so why to treat people like nothing when it's doesn't break my back?
Good points, but consider this: In the 1950s, miniskirts would have been considered completely outrageous and unacceptable. Within ten years they were all the rage and nowadays nobody thinks twice about them.
Attitudes towards toplessness could evolve just as rapidly, IMO, when the time is right for it.
Who knows, maybe in a few years you'll be going around topless just to be fashionable!

Talk about putting words in people's mouths. Never did I say that people who want to remain fully dressed around others are necessarily ashamed of their bodies.

Fashionable, eh?

I don't follow fashion now, and I wouldn't it to mankind to walk around half naked at my age... Even hip-pants are not for me anymore
You got to dress in a way that makes you look and feel good, not to be made fun at, and that is exactly what would happen if I would go walking around topless
(no, not prude, just realistic, I ain't 20 anymore

maybe cause it's easier to switch off the TV than to move you parades to the desert?
yet you didn't tell me why you ain't starting this serious topic either?

i won't! i guess having my breasts not saggy is more fashionable whenever! lol
i'm not speaking about what is acceptable, i'm speaking about mutual respect and compromise. And if we came up to it: there should be the limit somewhere?... i take a risk saying this i guess, cause it's all very disputable, and even more so, when people want to have a dispute! hehe

pffft... You're 36, Brenda, not 86.
Brenda @ Wed Aug 15, 2007 4:39 am
Well, Kaetz, to be honest, I think it is disrespectful in this day and age to want to walk around naked, or even topless. People are having problems with mothers breastfeeding their kids in public, but everybody should be allowed to walk around naked (according to streakers link).
I think there should be specific places where people can be naked, and where you can choose to not go to.
I don't mind my kids seeing me naked, but I do mind it if they see the neighbourhood kid naked. And I mind the neighbourhood kid seeing me naked either

Okay, well maybe you won't want to go topless ALL the time, but maybe just every now and then on special occasions, like to a party or a romantic date etc...

At any given time there is a limit, of course: That's the respectful compromise that gets agreed upon to become the prevailing norm.
But this compromise always seems to be evolving, and I'm not sure that there will ever be an absolute limit. But who knows? Is there an absolute limit beyond which we'll never go? That's a question which can never be answered.
