This also happens in the United States with Asian and Hispanics.

And again, why exactly does it matter? If they can get jobs regardless of their language, who really gives a shit? Clearly they've lived fine in Canada without our languages pulling them down. That's a success in my opinion.
Your ideals will change in 10 to 15 years. I felt the same when I was younger, and my perception has changed.
If you don't want to learn the customs and assimilate to your adopted countries ways, then why leave your home country?

I've lived across the entire Canadian West (BC to Manitoba) my whole life.
I guess the West isn't "Canadian".

It's not a melting pot at all, that is what we are discussing isn't it? The idea that maybe a melting pot where people are Canadian first would be more productive and beneficial to communities.
I'm not saying close down all the Chinese or El Salvadorian restaurants and only server McDonalds.
As far as your travel, BC to Manitoba.
Myself, coast to coast from New Brunswick to BC, New York, Miami, Texas, Los Angeles to Seattle as well as 8 months in Mexico City.
Hey, Mexico is a Melting Pot, you have to learn Spanish to live there.

Once again, ever consider moving? Seeing the True North Strong and Free that is outside of the GTA?
You really can't expect to live in a large city and not find some sort of "ghetto".
If there is any large city in the world with no "ghettos" and such that comes with living in a city, I'll be completely stunned.
