Canada is the land of the Free, in my opinion. Assimilating into Canadian culture, in my opinion, is moving to Canada, getting a Canadian citizenship, and exercising your freedom be who you are.
Sure, I'm all for a large educational lesson before they are allowed to enter the country, but by no means do i want people to be forced to burn their flags to be Canadian.
I don't mind "Canadian" being synonymous with "World" and "Humanity".
You just ask if any of these so called “Canadians” if they would protect Canada in the time if needed. I’ll bet you most would just bugger off to their homeland. Why would they care about Canada if they can’t even learn the language we have?
You need to grow up or move to the land of the UN. Canada has a culture we don’t need any more. And you’re quotes about the “land of the Free” is from the States, remember them? You know, the ones you hate !
Canada has always needed protection and always will.
You haven't done it, so how can you hop on your rickety soapbox and make foolish assumptions that immagrints won't?
I didn't need the military to further my education, but I will serve if needed. My "foolish assumptions" are right on the fucking money there bud, tell me how many immigrants sign up to protect Canada today?
I’ll bet you it’s 100% less then in the USA.
The people that come here today couldn't give 2 shits about Canada.
IE, look at the Lebanese that were taken out of Lebanon 3 years ago, 10K Great Canadians they were. They stayed until they could go back home and as soon as the shit started to fall from the sky they were phoning the Canadian Cab Company to pick them up.
Canada has enough homegrown problems we don’t need to import shit like that.

I worry about people who fret about multiculturalism. I grew up in East-Van Burnaby.
WTF kind of mystery land did they grow up in? We already were, we just recognized it.
Nothing pleases me more than the Sikh kid who says "Sorry Dad, the topknot don't fit under the hockey helmet. But I'm still a Sikh."
It's more like a stir-fry that offers some unique flavors than a melting pot that ends up with some bland, lowest common denominator culture.

Hey if you guys don't like Canadian culture you're free to leave.
We don't need some "stir fried" crap in Canada, we have roast beef and yorkshire pudding.
PS Sikhs don’t play hockey, they don’t even play cricket that well, but from what i've seen in Toronto they make great cab drivers.

Nope, I’m happy with the Canadian culture. The hyphenated crap is not Canadian.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
[I hate America because it isn't the land of the free.
Really? We have more freedoms then your beloved Canada
$1:
Nowadays it's "Fuck the constitution, keep them damn Pakis out!"
If America acted according to their own Constitution, I wouldn't "hate" them.
America is the Land of the Free for White Men. That's all.
Really then why are we more diverse than Canada?
Manifest destiny is right, america is more diverse yet canadians tend to pride themselves on being multi-cultural. Canadian culture is like an american-british hybrid. There are things which are distinctly canadian, i dont think our culture needs to be changed, i like it the way it is. try telling our war vets that canada has no culture. They fought and died to preserve our culture and our way of life.
tritium tritium:
O.K. Mr. Canada, Canada's culture has historically been influenced by European culture and traditions, primarily Britsh.
From 1950 to 1970's it took a swing towards American culture.
Then Multiculturalism, The Metric System, and French separatist. Anything to distance our culture from the United States between 1970's to 1990's.
Today's Canada : Riots in Montreal North, Islamic cultural surge that is trying to change Canadian laws (Sharia Law), area's of Vancouver that English is not even spoken, immigrants who have been in Canada for decades and never learn English. (or French)
Dear Lord, people not speaking English?!? I take it you've never been to our largest province? Or your local Chinatown?
Likewise, your laundry list of bad things could easily be reversed with the way we treated the French, aboriginals, Chinese and pretty much every other miniroity in Canada for the first 300 or so years of our existence (starting from say 1763). Where we've had a few bad apples recently buring cars and rioting or asking for Sharia laws (all turned down I might add), in the past we had rebellions and armed insurrection from minority groups. A majority demanding everyone to conform is not always the best policy.
Today's Canada is no longer the Two Solitudes we had for the first 300 years, and that's not a bad thing. Our multi-cultural diversity is a strength, not a weakness as you seem to think.

And here I always thought it was

but now old wacker is bringing American culture north. I always thought that was CTV's job.

That's disgusting. How about some spotted dick.

Only on paper, however your laws have been compromised over the years. There's so much more shit one can do in Canada and get away with that they can't in the US.
$1:
Really then why are we more diverse than Canada?
You're not. America is made up of Blacks who are descendants of slaves, Mexicans, who pour over the border like water from a cracked dam wall, if you take those two away and look at base immigration in general, America would be 95% white. Just how most non minority Americans would prefer. (Tough luck).
Canada is 82% white. The other 18% is from immigration, no slavery, no pourus borders. We also have 800,000 first nations (natives).
Our government
used to be racist in its selection process. That was under a century ag
