Like I said, with your own logic, don't come here and tell me to sit through Christian ceremonies in public schools. This country may originally have been based on Christian values, but on land that my people had inhabited long before Christianity. Plus, the country has come very farr since it was based on Christian values, it's all about liberty now.

   

Virgil...It seems like you have a beef with the very people that are paying and will continue to pay for alot of the things that you take for granted. If you want your own nation fight your own damn nation for the lands that these idiotic and antiquated treaties give you and enjoy your own little piece of paradise without any outside help. Take your, what is it, 140 acres and live off of the land and leave the rest of the world out of your own private hate!

You seem to forget that your people made peace and treaties with the French and English and while I would agree you have suffered some unjustice your people have benefitted from Canadian Government as well.....

At least I agree with you there. If I recall your man is Asian? Are you getting a lot of negativity to your relationship. Sorry for being a bit surprised I've never seen a lot of negative response to whites and Asians being together.

   

Almost all of the mixed race couples here in Taiwan are white men and Taiwanese women. That's because no Western woman (including cbc's and abc's) in her right mind would want a typical Taiwanese mother in law, or worse a Hakka mother in law.

   

Yes, and it surprised me, too. Nobody seems to mind so much when a white man dates a non-white, but hoo boy, something about a female dating an Asian makes everybody freak out, both white men and white women.
I don't know if white men somehow see white women as their racial property, or see the Asian guy as intruding on the "white man's turf", or whatever, but something about it makes everyone nervous. I also know a lot of white girls who proclaim loudly to white guys that they could never date an Asian man, but then cautiously ask me about it in private in such a way that I know they are afraid to admit it to the white guys.
I think white men have less of a problem dating non-white women because their is still kind of a colonialist belief that they are taking property from the non-white guys, whereas if one of "their" white women dates a non-white guy it is an affront to them.
Also, people have no problem lecturing me on how badly Asian men treat women (not my experience at all) or some other variation on how I can't possibly have a happy marriage married to anything other than a white man. It's eerie, creepy, and I never knew how racist Canadians were until I experienced it for myself.

Oh, and as long as my mother-in-law lives in Asia and my hubby and I live in Canada, what's the problem?

   

All I can say is there is Good Immigrants and bad Immigrants. I'm talking Baaad one's that just started coming in around the last 10 years. The one's before are all good.
