$1:
Given that the best security agencies in the world have tried to make that connection and failed, and the fact that the US has been been caught playing propaganda games at home and abroad, I think I wait for something from a more official source than that one, Pole.

You forgot to mention that the information has since been refuted or brought into serious question by intelligence agencies all over the globe or that Jay Rockefeller feels he's been lied to and has said as much publicly, Polemarch.

When grasping at straws, it's likely best to avoid the one that snapped the camel's spine...when a camel lands on you it is bound to hurt.

MORAL BLINDNESS BLIGHTS ANTI-BUSH PROTESTERS
Marcus Gee
Globe and Mail, November 21, 2003

The smoke was still rising from two bombing attacks in Istanbul yesterday when tens of thousands of anti-war protesters took to the streets of London. As dazed, bleeding Turks stumbled away from the wreckage, the protesters waved placards and chanted slogans about terrorism.

But don't get them wrong. The protesters didn't come to denounce the killers of Istanbul. That's not the war they're worried about. No, they came to denounce the man whose country is leading the counterattack, the world's "number one terrorist," U.S. President George W. Bush.

Have these people no shame? Have they lost all sense of right and wrong?

Holding an anti-war march now is like protesting the fight against Nazism at the height of the Blitz. The world is at war, and the enemy is just as ruthless. In the past few weeks, we have seen attacks on synagogues in Turkey, expatriate families in Saudi Arabia, Italian police in Iraq--even the International Red Cross in Iraq. Scores of innocent people have been killed and maimed: women and children, young and old, Muslims and Jews. No one knows who will be next.

Yet, none of this seems to have made the slightest impression on the anti-war crowd. There were no mass marches against anti-Semitic violence when the synagogue bombs went off. No crowds gathered to condemn the murder of the poor Italians, who are in Iraq solely to help Iraqis put their country back together. Instead, the protesters direct their anger exclusively at the "imperialist," "colonialist," "militaristic" Americans and their British allies in the war on terrorism. "Blair, Bush: Butchers," said a typical placard at yesterday's march.

This sort of thing has become so common since Sept. 11, 2001, that we have almost lost sight of how perverse it is. Whatever anyone may think of the United States, its war on Iraq, or its prison in Guantanamo Bay, to equate George Bush with the killers of Istanbul is to demonstrate the worst kind of moral blindness.

You need to be blind not to see which side is the right one in this struggle. On one side, stand the United States and its fellow democracies, with all their faults. On the other, stands al-Qaeda, a fanatical terrorist movement that would deliver the Middle East to a medieval form of Islamic rule.

It is a woman-hating movement that treats women as chattel. It is an anti-Semitic movement that would "cleanse" the region of Jews. It is a homophobic movement that considers homosexuality a capital crime. It is an anti-democratic movement that would rule through the word of the Koran and never hold a vote.

In short, it is a movement that would wipe out everything London's protesters hold dear.

Many feminists marched through London's streets yesterday. Their blindness is so deep that they marched against the overthrow of the Taliban in Afghanistan, a movement that forbade women to work, and girls to go to school. Many environmentalists marched, too. Their blindness is so deep that they opposed the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, a man who drained the fertile marshes of southern Iraq to drive out the Marsh Arabs, and who fouled the Persian Gulf with oil in the 1991 gulf war.

Human-rights activists were out by the thousands yesterday. What do they have so say about the hundreds of mass graves uncovered in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion, each filled with the remains of Mr. Hussein's victims--perhaps 300,000 of them in all?

This is what they have to say: "Stop Bush." That was the vapid slogan of yesterday's march.

Stop him from doing what? If the anti-war crowd had stopped Mr. Bush from going after al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, the Taliban would still be in power and women would still be walled up in their homes. If the anti-war movement had stopped him from invading Iraq, the Hussein regime would still be in power and the mass graves would still be filling up with corpses.

Mr. Bush didn't listen, thank goodness, and both the Taliban and the Hussein regime are gone as a result.

So now, the protesters want to "Stop Bush" from occupying Iraq. We all know what the result of that would be. If the Americans leave Iraq now, while they are under attack and Iraqis are still preparing for self-rule, the bombers and the insurgents will claim a victory that would inspire terrorists the world over.

Iraq itself would fall into chaos, causing misery for its people and endless trouble for its neighbours. Is this what the protesters want?

Yesterday was Nov. 20, 2003. Remember it. On that day, terrorists in Istanbul killed at least 27 people and injured more than 400. On that same day, tens of thousands of cheerful protesters marched through the streets of London calling "Stop Bush."

Have they no shame?

So does eating Angel Dust for breakfast make you feel more manly, Pole Sucker, or does it just make you hallucinate about a threesome with Tony and George...more womanly, I guess?

I really hate to have to be totally honest with purposely ignorant weasels like you, takes the fun out of it, but what the fuck? We had two world leaders stand up and cynically lie to us today. You, Pole Licker, are perpetuating that lie.

I don't know if you had a mother, Poadmarcher...or if she had a brain. My mother taught me that lying was wrong, though. In that existentialist-physicist- mother way she also told me that every action had some sort of equal and opposite reaction with a more or less predictable result. In this case it would be that subjugating and destroying people results in them doing the same back in a manner that you perceive to be inappropriate.

Let me put that in short form, Poleweasel...You fucking morons have gotten us into a gang war. That makes you and those you worship into gang members. Common fucking thugs. No better or worse than the common thugs on the other side....Idiots too stupid to sit at a table with a couple of beer and sort things out.

Don't like that? So bomb my fucking house. Better yet, show up here like a man.

Yeah, RH, I know...I'm a bad man. I'm inciting the stupid and daring to challenge idiocy and preying on Polesucker's homophobia and war-like tendencies. So spank me.

Oh, looks like I struck a nerve. Ya know Blair for one who likes to pretend he's intelligent you don't really offer anything. Typical lefty. When you've got nothing you fall back on petty, childish insults. Come back when you got a real argument.

electricbuford @ Sat Nov 22, 2003 8:16 am

Aye Carumba! Jeez Rev - Aren't ya being a little rough on ol' Pole ? It's not his fault afterall - he's just a poor American wannabe trapped in a Canadian body

Anyway , I wanted to respond to that article he posted mainly because there's been alot of that kind of sediment in the press in light of international events. I believe it's always a good idea for people to protest in a democracy and rake their leaders acrosss the coals. That way , if they are fucking up , the pressure is on them to stop their shenanigans.See pole , in a democracy we can excercise the right to put pressure on our elected (cough, hack) leaders to do the right thing. Now unfortunately, bastards like Sadam,Idi Amin,Bin missin', and all the other evil sons of bitches that help to make some parts of this world a hell on earth - DON'T respond to protests or care what the civilized world says or thinks- and lately neither does the U.S. come to think of it.
Most of my peers, and probably the vast majority of Americans, as well as alot of "free world" citizens aren't aware of all the terrible shit that goes on.Many weren't aware of the evil perpetuated by Sadam back when he was technically a friend of the U.S. When the U.S.S. Stark got slammed with an Iraqi missile , I was three months away from enlisting in the U.S. Navy. I , like many Americans had no idea WHO or What Sadam was - Iraq was on our side - that's why we brushed off the Stark incident because Iraq was killing our real enemy IRAN. A little over three years later, Iraq was our enemy and all the evil stuff started to come out aboot what that little sand monkey had been up to "under our noses".
I've said it before, if we don't watch out, there's gonna be other kinds of terrorists besides the middle eastern variety we have now.The U.S. has got to stop playing fucking games with the weak and nameless and support peace and prosperity EQUALLY across the globe -not just when it suits us.If you and people like you can't grasp that concept, then come on down and sign up for the U.S. Army - you'll be granted full citizenship and then can get your happy asses shipped over to Iraq -where you'll meet new and friendly well-tanned people who'll show you just how much they love America and DE - MOCK -RACY. I just heard on the news that the U.S. plans to keep 100,000 troops stationed in Iraq thru 2006 , so your services ARE NEEDED! Plus , it might save some poor bastard (or bastardette) who'd rather stay home from having to go over there.
Now I'll admit Rev B was a bit rough on you , and I'm sure he has his reasons, but I think we all need to be civilized aboot this. Don't get me wrong , I'm still telling ya to go to hell - But I'm sincerely hoping you look foward to the trip while you're packing. However , if you STILL don't get it after this , I swear I'll get Twila to put the smack down on ya , and that's worse than a 100 Rev Blairs. Toodle - loo and - GO CANADA ! WORD UP BEYATCH !

I was a little hard on Pole. He doesn't want to be a Canadian, he wants to live in Bush-land. He doesn't want to move though, he wants to bring Bush-land here. It pisses me off to see little people like him spreading the same lies that Bush and Maggie Thatcher's Bastard Son spew.

They are lies. Iraq has nothing to do with Al Quaeda. Before the US and Britain illegally invaded Iraq, Saddam's little country was one of the few where that particular group of terrorists did not operate.

If Al Quaeda is the problem, then why hasn't Bush gone after Saudi Arabia? If he wants to stop terrorism in general, how do you explain what he's doing in South America?

The war in Iraq is about money and power. Pure and simple. The war on terror which should be about justice has been twisted into being about nothing but money and power. George Bush has used the war on terror to impose his want to run the world and build his own wealth. He has a gang with him...mean little thugs like himself.

I refuse to join Bush's gang. I am not a thug. Pole wants to join up, but like his cowardly hero, wants others to fight the fights for him. So yeah, I was a little hard on Pole. I wasn't too hard on him though.

rev, Im disappointed in you...pol didnt write the article...so what if bush and blair lie...[ polititions...dont know better]...but the article makes a very compelling point..the world is at war...islam is making its bid..iraq, al-queda...whats in a name...the enemy hides behind names..kills innocent over their point..i dont shed any tears for the arabs or the palistinians..they dont know love only hate ...they get what they deserve..

rev..Do you believe in God...?....He knew this would happen..seems to me we are getting closer n closer to Christs return..

no hard eveidence on it ...lots of coincidences though

AND maggie thatcher was a great leader...dont dis her..wish the U.S. had one like her.but we got hillery ..wench....two faced bitch

the protestrs hearts are in the right place...too bad their heads up their bums..

no ones gonna be a winner in this one...and yes money , power and oil are part of the iraq equation...but then again , histrically..most wars are fought for money and power..haves vs have nots....religion has been used as a means for focusing the hate...as well as race ...

its a sad day....sooner or later al-queda is gonna reach out and touch you cannucks ....matter o time....

Enemies hide behind names? Like the CIA? or President "place current name here"? Terrorists are called terrorists cause of the colour of their skin (brown). Which is what Timothy McVay proved. Terrorist is only a name for a person/group that the US can't control. When they have the control they call them allies.

Rev_Blair @ Sun Nov 23, 2003 3:17 pm

Just to answer Feeko's questions:

Pole has been posting that kind of crap for as long as he's been here. He seldom tries to express his own thoughts, and when he does shows his lack of competence for doing so.

The truth is that past US foreign policy has a direct causal link to what's happening in the Middle East today. So does the past imperialism of European countries. George Bush, instead of lokking for workable long-term solutions, is using lies and excuses in a bid to take over the world. Go to Google and type in "PNAC," Feeko. Read and learn. Be sure to check out the PNAC's own site...it shows that the "leftists" aren't lying when they say that PNAC wants to take over the world.

No, actually, I don't believe in God...yours or anybody else's. I also don't believe that aliens built the pyramids. Mostly I don't believe that greed is good or that killing people for money is a real foreign policy.

Maggie Thatcher was not a great leader. She was a dried up old bitch who tried to destroy England and engaged in an orgy of abuse with the Reagan's, who also weren't great leaders. "Maggie Thatcher's Bastard Son" is a reference to Tony Blair though...a Labour leader gone bad. My theory is that Maggie is Tony's father.

The protestors include a great many people who spend a lot of time studying issues and thinking...two things that Shrub and his cabinet are not reknowned for. While Bush and Blair were lying about continuing to rape Iraq would somehow stop terrorism and using the most recent attacks as an example, a good many people who had just suffered very personally from those attacks were saying that policies of Bush and Blair were to blame.

The truth is that more we distance ourselves from the twisted and ugly policies of the Bush regime, the less chance there is of us being attacked. The terrorist threat to the US is no longer just al Quaeda, it includes groups from all over the globe. A lot of them aren't Muslims either...most in South America are Catholics, many in Eastern Europe are Orthodox Christians, Those from Africa practice almost every religion under the sun except for Buddhism, most of the home-grown American ones go to the same churches as George Bush.

Do you have any idea how unpopular the United States has become under the mis-guidance of your unelected president and those that control him, Feeko? Do some reading, learn as much as you can, then tell everybody you know what you've found.

feeko @ Sun Nov 23, 2003 3:55 pm

well, rev... I have to agree to disagree with you....FAIR ENOUGH..I think America's problem stem from 1..we have kicked our allies in the teeth many times 2 envy...europe is still mad we didnt come to their aid sooner in ww2 and that we didnt take any big hits at home..and then we got really weathy over the rebuilding..

I have to say bush was elected...clinton [ if it were not for hr perot may not have won either..and your guaranteed a vote but if yu mess it up dont be surprised when it gets thrown out]...

Im kinda surprised you dont believ in God...too bad...its your choice
fair enough...

I kinda believe that man just brings all this on himself..[ world today]..and we are all gonna pay...next 15-20 yrs are gonna be key to our survival

and this brown skin crap is just that.as far as terrorist go imho
they are just as racist as we are.its human nature....

i read a thing in the post about one of your indians bing dropped off by the local cops far from town in on a very cold night ..so y'all have the race probs too..not just an american thing.

your right about those groups you mentioned...but they are the havenots in mho...

I know you dont believe in God so I wont try to convert ya.but look at this....

Some think Christ is a comming soon....

seems to me God said he would intevine before we destroy his world...

by the looks of healines around the world...it make one wonder..

Regardless of whos pres...we are unpopular cause the world fears our power....
Oh well....either way....beer is still something that binds all men together.....cheers...

Rev_Blair @ Sun Nov 23, 2003 5:47 pm

You have kicked your allies in the teeth too many times. It has happened more under Bush than any other president and he's only been in office three years. There's a problem there...one that is costing lives, American and foreign...in a very real way.

It has little or nothing to do with envy though. A great many people feel no envy at all for the US or it citizens. We feel pity for the citzens. We feel disgust for the leaders. We feel fear and loathing. We feel the way anybody feels when they see their friend and neighbour self-destructing. None of that is envy.

Bush was appointed by a Supreme Court that in turn appointed mostly by his father. The state that made the most difference was Florida, a state ruled by Jeb Bush. Voting irregularities took place there that would shame a thirld world country in the midst of a civil war. The blatant attempts to keep black people from voting make anybody who actually believes in domocracy want to puke. The questions aren't about how Nader split the vote, they are very much about whether George has any right at all to the White House.

Let's pretend, just for a minute, that I do believe in God, Feeko. I've read the Book of Revelations and have a pretty good grasp of what's in there. What makes you think that certain religious-right politicians would have any effect in forcing things to play out according to that book? If your god did exist how would he react to their actions? Is there any real indication in that book that George W. Bush is not Satan? Directions are a matter of perspective and an attack from the US is as liable to come from the east as the west.

Racism is not just an American thing. It is very much alive in Canada. It isn't just dropping off Indians to die outside of Saskatoon, the cops here in Winnipeg shot a man named JJ Harper about a decade ago because of the colour of his skin. In Ontario the OPP, after illegal meetings with then Premier Harris, killed a native man who was protesting in an attempt to get his land back. More recently there has been the bilateral racism at the bottom of the Maher Arar case. Just because we do it too doesn't make it right, Feeko. I think it was at this site where I ended a post about Arar by saying, "I refuse to fuck pigs." My point was that my government was doing exactly that, and so was yours. I will not take part in it and will speak out against it whenever given the chance. It doesn't matter if that racism is the OPP murdering Dudley George at a protest in Ontario or George Bush encouraging the murder of Indians in South America. It doesn't matter if the racism is taking place in Saskatoon or Africa. It doesn't matter if the racism is happening in Winnipeg or Iraq. It is wrong.

I don't see racism as being human nature. I do see humans' tendency towards racism as a political tool that should be dragged out into the brutal light of day and beaten to death whenever possible. That's especially important when the sole remaining super-power on the planet uses racism to feed its own personal greed. The first time I ever heard the term "rag-head" was while reading the brutal musings of a Bushite. The first time I ever heard the term "sand-nigger" it was on Fox TV. I heard both those terms before 9-11. Both times it was by people justifying the political stance of George Bush. Excuse me if I tie those statements to an American regime that seems all too willing to kill brown people.

There isn't much point in trying to convert me...I was raised being told that Jesus character was smarter than me and being whacked by nuns who thought asking questions was a mortal sin. The thing is that I don't question most of the moral lessons in the Bible, especially in the New Testament. I don't even seriously doubt that Jesus was an historical figure. I just doubt that he was some sort of god because I don't believe in gods.

As for the groups I mentioned, I assume that you mean those from Africa, South America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. You could toss in those from most of Asia, though I didn't mention them. They are have-nots. What they don't have is directly related to a lot of American and western European policies though. Look into the trade deals and wars of the last century if you want to learn more. If you want to be really scared look at the War on Drugs and then think about how American trade policies have caused coca to be the only really viable cash crop in South America.

Look up Project fo New American Century (PNAC) though. These are the scariest fuckers to come along in a couple of hundred years and a lot of them are sitting in the White House right now. Look them up, learn about them.

Rev I just got off the pnac site man those guys are some scary. I dont pretend to know world politics and I am not as well read as you and nonrev and buford and all the rest. What I cant understand is what makes these guys think their brand of democracy will work in other parts of the world? I mean whats good for the goose sometimes aint good for the gander. What is with these people they are learned men. BUt seems to me they have a very intolerant veiw of the world. and want to play god. I for one am really tired of it.
I think they should begin to fix mistakes in their own country rather than trying to solve the worlds problems. Anyways that is my thinking. Which in all honesty has given me a headache. Anyways I enjoy reading your post and they have opened my eyes to alot of things. We seem to be on the same wave length but I am not as elequent a writer as you so I will read the posts. Anyways keep up the good work man.
