PNAC has about as much to do with democracy as drowning kittens does, Blubs. These guys aren't even looking for the US to run the world...they want to reserve that little task for themselves. The country to our south is just the main tool being used by these guys.

blubs @ Sun Nov 23, 2003 9:57 pm

My first take on these guy were that there was pretty much no difference between them and communism. Correct me if you think or know I am wrong Rev. But it almost sounds to me as if there is a '' fifth column'' at work in the US govt and they are the pupetters so to speak.
I am not one to panic but Jesus these are really freaking me out. I have often thought it was not the USSR one had to worry about and that it is the USA. Boy I sure wish I could make sense of all this. Hell if I could make sense of this I would be a political profesor at the UofA. It seems so pointless to me. Well I gotta go take a Tylenol.

Rev_Blair @ Mon Nov 24, 2003 5:48 am

Funny you mentioned communism...I read something someplace comparing them to Trotskyites. It didn't have a lot of references to sources, so I kind of disregarded it, but obviously you aren't the only one to see the similarity.

What amazes me is that these guys are operating more or less in the open, yet the mainstream American press just ignores them. Several founding members are part of the Bush cabinet, Bush's own brother is a founding member, the Bush Doctrine is pretty much a word for word copy of their doctrine. You'd think the press would be all over it.

[quote="blubs"]. What is with these people they are learned men. BUt seems to me they have a very intolerant veiw of the world. and want to play god.

The nazis had some well educated folks in their ranks too. They also ruled over a fairly well educated and cultured society which for the most part went along for the ride until the end.

I think they should begin to fix mistakes in their own country rather than trying to solve the worlds problems.

That says it all, the U.S. has to deal with it's own shortfalls first if it is to be taken seriously in today's world.

electricbuford @ Mon Nov 24, 2003 7:00 am

Some people DO protest and try to stand up for what is right in this country. But sadly, most Americans don't even know about the SCHOOL OF THE AMERICAS. This is where extreme right-wing thugs can get a good education courtesy of the U.S. government. Students are taught how to terrorize their enemies as well as neutralize dissent. They learn other rough tactics too , but of course all that isn't put in the brochure. They go back to their home countries (many in south and central America) , and apply what they have learned. If it's a school of the Americas - does that mean that Canadians attend classes there too? Anyway , below is a link about people of conscience speaking out against this decades old tragedy :

blubs @ Mon Nov 24, 2003 8:27 pm

Boy BUford talk about the ''pot calling the kettle black'' eh. This school has been teaching terrorist tatics for x amount of years and nothing has been done about it. What gives these guys the right to teach the same kind of terrorist act as Osama and company. Is it because they think they are right and the others are wrong? Why cant people just get along? I am trying my damndest to understand all this and all I get are more questions than answers.
And Rev how can one obtain a copy of the Bush Zdoctrine would love to read it.

Indelible @ Mon Nov 24, 2003 8:44 pm

man, there is no way to understand stupid americans. it's like a man trying to understand everything about women, it can never be done, but while slightly subjective on the anti-yank side, i think we canucks can take a somewhat more objective look at the whole double standards they force on everyone...

Rev_Blair @ Mon Nov 24, 2003 9:21 pm

You can read the whole thing here, Blubs: http://www.whitehouse.gov/nsc/nss.html. I'd also suggest that you Google the phrase and read some of the things that have been said about it. Anybody interested should also look at this http://www.vivelecanada.ca/. It gives a pretty succinct overview of what has been going since World War II.

The School of the Americas isn't just a stain on the US...we've contributed to those kinds of things too. One of the really big problems Canada faces is that when the US does things like that we, as a country, have a very strong tendency to either turn a blind eye or roll up our sleeves and pitch in.

It's not just stupid Americans, Indelible. Our next Prime Minister is hell bent on dragging us into the midst of these kinds of things. What do you think he means by us having closer ties with the US? Who will effectively speak out against Martin when he leads us down that path? Not the Alliance or Conservatives or whatever they are calling themselves this week.

Indelible @ Thu Nov 27, 2003 11:33 pm

i appologize for my lack of knowing all the ins and outs of this convo cuz i just started with this site. however, that said, i don't think my opinion changes. i AM proud of the great things canadians have done such as during WWI, i am not entirely clueless on history. canadians kicked ass in the battle of vimy ridge and in passchendaele as well as in the liberation of holland in WWII...BUT, i still don't think that canadians should have any part in an unjustifiable war that the mighty egotistical US war machine decides to start...regardless of who the prime minister is! i think martin is looking for "closer ties" because he's scared of bush and what bush can do. as for who is gonna oppose martin, i will leave that task to canadians who still have a shred of common sense and well hopefully the "opposition" will do it's job and oppose and if the democratic machine actually works like it should we won't have to degrade ourselves to the level of americans who support bush.

oi.. well heres one american (and im a chick) whom yew could understand a little better. only cos i do not love my country and if bush was to be hit by a bus.. pray it a really big bus.. tomorrow i would be the last to feel any sorrow.. at all.. what so ever.. i do understand what hes doing and i think its very dick-like of him. sadly, i have no choice of where i live.. so, alas, stuck i am.. in bush land as rev would like to put it. i, like electric, would gladly trade with any of you.

Rev_Blair @ Fri Nov 28, 2003 5:23 am

vXvGiRvXv:
I hear from more and more Americans like you all the time. Be sure to go vote. It's time to take your country back. Hey, maybe we can fix you up with Buford.... 8)

Indelible:
Nobody knows all the ins and and outs, not even Seka  . You brought up WWI and WWII. We didn't follow the US into those wars, we went first. We may have been unduly influenced by Britain, especially in WWI, but that was as a result of their empire not an aid to them building an empire.

Martin is likely scared of Bush, but for the wrong reasons. Martin is afraid that he won't be able to line his own pockets if he angers the Shrub. He is very much like Mulroney. The Reform/Alliance/Conservatives are much the same too...their criticism of the Chretien Liberals has been for not giving away more of Canada. What's left of the Progressive Conservatives is speaking out against US hegemony and so are the NDP and the BQ. Remember that when the next Canadian election comes around.

Indelible @ Fri Nov 28, 2003 7:04 pm

vXvGiRvXv, i suppose u could immigrate if u really wanted to, but meh, that's up to u.

rev,
i think reagrdless of us following or leading we did do a really good job there. unfortunately we have had our blunders too.
the last thing we need in this country is another mulrooney, what a crook! sadly chretien hasn't been able to fix his mistakes in the eons he's been in office but what can we expect? but that's another topic entirely...

blubs @ Fri Nov 28, 2003 8:00 pm

Rev I cant log into the site you gave me about the Bush doctrine is there any other site like the one you mentioned. I have been reading vivecanada good site. well I will try to google it.

Rev_Blair @ Fri Nov 28, 2003 9:47 pm

Google away....that was the official White House site. It won't work for me either now. They must have moved it.

By the way...whitehouse.gov is the official place. Whitehouse.org will get you some pretty funny stuff. Whitehouse.com gets you dirty pictures. At first I thought it was the Bush twins officially licking each other, then I found out it wasn't official at all. Then I thought, "Well, it oughtta be."

blubs @ Fri Nov 28, 2003 10:00 pm

Thanks Rev I am going to go to thoshe sites now. Lord knows I need a few good laughs. Maybe I can still find those papers of the Bush doctrine. Thanks Rev.
