You know whatthis is all called MULTICULTUARALISM!

xerxes xerxes:
Back when the Moors controlled southern Spain, in the city of Cordoba, there were all together about 1000 Churches, Mosques, and Synagogues and there were rarely any problems.

Back when the Nazis controlled France, Poland, and etc. there were also very few problems. Would you argue that France was better off when the Nazis were there because crime rates during Vichy and the Occupation were lower than before and after the war?

If you wish to live out your life in dhimmitude then do so and may your chains rest lightly upon you.

If you wish to delude yourself into thinking that what is going on in France isn't a religious battle about Sharia Law and headscarves in the public schools then do so. I am not surprised that angry, young, Muslim males cannot find jobs in a society where jobs are hard to come by in the first place due to insanely restrictive employment laws that make it near impossible to fire someone once they are employed.

That and we're talking about people who refuse to assimilate into xenophobic France. I'm not at all surprised that the French discriminate against non-French just the same way the Quebecois do.

I thought I saw something on the Drudge about head scarf law

That would not explain the riots in Belgium and Germany has much to worry about tonight.

Unemployment is running rather high in France. Dissatisfaction and civil unrest follow such things. We are fortunate in our 2 countires that unemployment are not anywhere near those levels although some corporations try very hard to pursue that goal.

I'm trying to find the logic in moving from one economically and job rate challenged country to a more centrally ethinc economically and job rate challenged country....I can't find it.

I beg to differ. Since the primary rioters have so far been all described as Muslim (that's when descriptions more specific than "French youths" have been offered) I'm inclined to call it...

MONOCULTURALISM since that's what the problem really is.

Whether it's Muslims refusing to become French or French refusing to accept Muslims the issue is not multiculturalism because neither side practices it.

And the LA riots in 92 were the same? The problem is high unemployment and a utter failure of integration.

The problem in LA and in Paris is lawlessness.

The Marines went into LA and put a quick end to the lawlessness.

The French should do the same, send in the Foreign Legion and let them restore order the way they do it best.

Deal with the social issues after peace is restored.

Right; nothing is being solved in these riots, especially since they've already gained international attention.

Riots are like social temper tantrums.

Heh, maybe it's time Canada had a few. I wonder if it would make it in the In brief news on CNN.

Riots? We'll see em if any of our teams win the Stanley cup or lose it in the finals. Of course its just people using that as an excuse and not real fans anyway.

Kinda like when Vancouver lost to my beloved Rangers in the finals.

Exactly who I was thinking of. I posted examples back in this thread or another one a short time ago.

Be careful what you wish for.

$1:
Ask this question of any Muslim and see if you get a straight answer:

Do you renounce Surah 8:36, "Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme"? Yes or no?

Good luck with that, by the way.

I did, specifically and he said that kind of thinking belongs only in the past and not in modern times.

And, as I said he would, he evaded the 'yes' or 'no' answer. It's what all the 'moderate' Muslims do.

Do you know what you call a real moderate Muslim? An atheist.

Hate to give you this one, Derby, but I'd rather see them atheist than bloodthirsty killers bent on world domination.

DerbyX DerbyX:
How about this:
$1:
Beat your children hard and often. Don't worry about hurting them. You may break a few bones and cause some brain damage, but it isn't going to kill them. And even if they do die, they'll be better off. They'll thank you in heaven for beating the hell out of them

I don't know where that came from but it is sick.

DerbyX DerbyX:
from: Proverbs 23.
$1:
23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Many fundies still raise their children under this barbaric philosophy. Should I continue?

Many people do not discipline thir children at all and the results are equally barbaric. Somewhere in between lies the correct measure of love and discipline. I agree that extreme discipline is abuse, I grew up with that crap myself. At the same time, I would spank a child when to not do so would have graver consequences years later.
