Introductions

I'm not quite positive, but this may be more of a question than a suggestion. I guess the feedback we see in this thread will detrmine that.
As we are creeping up to the 1000-member mark, I find it oddly strange that the forum is predominantly featuring posts from the same handful of members. Once you have reached a certain level of members, I would expect that the number of posters would also increase. Part of my thinking is that maybe some are uncertain about posting their opinion so soon in some of the busier, more active threads.
Would it make matters easier if had an Introductions category where new members could posts a little Hiya! and be welcomed to the community.
Would this help encourage newer members to post more messages.

But most posts are still made by a handful of members.
And for those who don't know, Istanbul is the modern incarnation of old Constantinople. And there used to be a member who went by the name of Constantinople, look up his profile and posts for more background info.
