I'm not quite positive, but this may be more of a question than a suggestion. I guess the feedback we see in this thread will detrmine that.

As we are creeping up to the 1000-member mark, I find it oddly strange that the forum is predominantly featuring posts from the same handful of members. Once you have reached a certain level of members, I would expect that the number of posters would also increase. Part of my thinking is that maybe some are uncertain about posting their opinion so soon in some of the busier, more active threads.

Would it make matters easier if had an Introductions category where new members could posts a little Hiya! and be welcomed to the community.
Would this help encourage newer members to post more messages.

Feedback from all would be appreciated.

Hi Mike....

HEY! YOU AREN'T NEW!!! :)

Mr. King of the Posts does not need to be introduced. The idea was to get brand new members to post a little "Hi" message to get them started.

Oh well... :D

Well, kinda. :)

I went online last night, posted a bunch of messages and then found there was no more to repond to.

It then occured to me that the majority of posts come from the same 10 or so people. As we approach the 1000 member mark, that is like 1% who post.

So it made me wonder what does it atke to make new members post. Thus the thread.

So, based on the consensus thus far, would having an introductions category in the forum be a good idea?

Definatey-it's a little intimidating posting as a newbie - everybody seems to now each other ad on some forums - they get nasty if you have aything to say.
Anyways - Hiya I'm Kari [cheer]

canucker @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 2:35 pm

Hiya Kari!! Don't be intimidated, we're mostly friendly. Calgary Flames huh? That's okay, I'll still be nice. (Much better than Toronto or Montreal)

BluDragonKat @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 2:37 pm

You know we had an absolutely phenomonal year (before the small, year long break I' trying to deal with through massive therapy) and we, as Flames fans, just can't let go of it.

canucker @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 2:38 pm

Well your doing great now. Neck and neck with us. 8)

BluDragonKat @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 2:41 pm

Okay as a newbie - and apparentlya dumba* . . . I cannot get any pictures to upload onto my profile. What should I be doing to get it to work?

Streaker @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 2:44 pm

Welcome to CKA, BluDragonKat! [B-o]

Keep it up and I'm sure you'll get that "necroposter" medal in no time! :P

canucker @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 2:44 pm

Just make sure the size and dimentions are within the limits. I've had trouble recently with it as well. What pic are you trying to upload? and from where?
