Erinites Erinites:
We are gathered here today as an internet community to mourne the ends of USAof1776 and Our dear Constantinople.

As any good Irish lass would do I will hold a wake in your honours.
Let the stories fly, the bullshit flow and the beers abound.

See you on the net.

C

Sweeeeet a Wake.... Make it tomorrow, though; the NSLC is closed today

Hey guys. I haven't posted in a while but i have been reading the posts. Constantinople has sent many pictures in and has posted many thoughtful posts. I personally think he is telling the truth......

No, I'm telling you it was all a lie. I'd post the PM conversations we had, but that shouldn't be necessary. The shear notion of a 94 year old man chatting in IRC, playing flash video games, and andlessly bickering with people 1/4 his age should have been enough to open your eyes.

I'm pretty sure his age said 94 way back when he was USofA, anyway.... people just assumed it was a joke, but he suddenly decided to run with it.

I already have a good idea who he "still" is...

dude, you shoulda read the rest of my post especially hypothesis #5. But u are right. I didn't realize he was playing arcade games and such. A for those pictures he probably got them from his grandpa as i have picture sof mine. If he is lieing he is pretty sick. He has been going with his profile for a long time and going along with that story. But ya never know...people tend to surprise me these days.

Blue_Nose @ Sun Nov 13, 2005 1:12 pm

Can I submit a nomination for CanadianHeat for the Pot Head medal? I think this thread is the most appropriate place for it....

(just kidding)

He was away for awhile.

I didnt glean that pic off the net,the bear is standing on the continental divide, his ass is in Alberta and his head is in B.C.

But then again

I could be just shittin you.

But prolly not.
With all the history nuts around you would think one would recognize him.

CanadianHeat @ Sun Nov 13, 2005 1:19 pm

yea yea yea. I know.

Jaime_Souviens @ Sun Nov 13, 2005 2:03 pm

There's a whole lot more to this.

I think you do have a number of people playing off one account. "USAof1776", the political partisan, "Constantinople" the writer of brief pious comments, the "Constantinople" that ShepherdsDog identified at the beginning of this thread, et c.

As to actually how many people there are, I don't know. I don't think it's as easy as saying it's all one person.

The "94 year old" playing arcade games may have still been a younger family member signing on as Constantinople.

There is some old man around.

I suppose the "memories" of New York City seem too clear to have been faked. But then, who knows?

Jaime_Souviens @ Sun Nov 13, 2005 2:20 pm

\"Constantinople\" \"Constantinople\":
Actually, I did work downtown for the Bulova Watch Company. But my business took me many places, as did the pay. I am sorry to say that I never went to a Dodgers game. But I did see many a play, and that is how I first met my future wife at Center Theatre (first known as RKO "Roxy" Theatre) at the opening of "Virginia" on September 2, 1937. I must say, I do not know anything about that play for my eyes were on her the entire time. The theatre was a wonderful old building but it was sadly demolished in the 1950's. I will never forget that night. Ever. She was dressed in a brilliant blue dress, there with her parents, while I was with one of my colleagues. I paid good money for the ticket, and it was all worth it.
After the play, I introduced myself and she was very outgoing. Her father did not want to stick around so he kind of rushed the encounter along. I knew I had to talk to her again, but my colleague wanted to leave- they were leaving, too. It was a mess. I almost lost her to the crowds as they exited into the halls, but I quickly pushed my way through, tapping her on the shoulder, telling her that if she was ever interested in a new watch (it was all I could come up with in the moment), that she could find me at the address on the business card I then handed to her.

"Virginia" did open on September 2, 1937 at the Center Theatre.

But it wasn't a play, it was a musical.
Virginia

Jaime, you better not be just playing along...

I'm telling you he lied, and he told me himself. We shared the amusement of watching people react together, until his heart felt memories of his wife etc, came up. I told him I thought he was going too far with it, because people took it to heart.

A few examples, to prove the point (I'm only doing this because I hate liars)

Blue_Nose Blue_Nose:
How much of the stories which you've been posting is factual? It's obviously inspiring a few people around here, but you're going to break their hearts if they find out it's a ruse.

Constantinople Constantinople:
Sometimes for something to be truly inspiring, it has to be inspiration itself.

I do hope that you are enjoying the stories, Daniel

[hr]
Blue_Nose Blue_Nose:
(quoted section of an emotional response from one member to one of Const's stories about his wife)

I think he's exaggerating, but this would still raise a few moral issues if I were in your shoes.... just a thought.

I'm of course assuming the stories of your wife are equally as 'creative' as the others... I apologise if I'm mistaken.

Constantinople Constantinople:
I appreciate the concern- as well as everything else you have sent me in private.

I was surprised by [member]'s reaction as well.

My request in the Christmas thread was anything but false, Daniel.

[Member]'s emotions were not baseless, if they were in fact true.

I'll have no sympathy for his "memory" on this forum.

But it's not a few people. It's one person.... right from the very beginning... he acted differently on purpose, and changed when he got bored.

If you're going to try and believe there's something more, go ahead.
