Religion has no place in public school
Keep all public education secular. Religion is okay, but it needs to be kept private so that it isn't inflicted on those of other faiths.

The education act does say, "a board shall not permit any person to conduct religious exercises or to provide instruction that includes indoctrination in a particular religion or religious belief in a school." I guess this is heading towards a Charter case.
Well, I guess the TSBD lawyers didn't read that part.
Charter cases need money, wonder who will pony up.
And, as usual, the HRC ? .. nowhere to be seen when Islam is involved.
Oh...i'm sure they know, but i guess they went with the "accommodation" route, instead of law.
You misquoted me andy. The quote was your quote. Me Eyebrock, you andy.
If the Jews discriminate against women they should lose any tax-free status too.
As usual you use unequitable comparisons.
When the Jews or Left-footers take over a public school and turn it into a temple/church, flouting the Education Act, then discriminate against pupils for being female and further, for being female and menstruating, you will have a credible point.
Until then you have nothing.
Edited for 'gasp' typos.

Nice try. You Brock learn read. From top of page 2:
andyt andyt:
EyeBrock EyeBrock:
The Imam didn't. The Toronto Public School Board didn't and this separation of females/menstruating females from males happens in every mosque and madrassa in Canada.
What they do in their churches is their business. I believe some Jewish sects also segregate males from females.
But in public schools there should be no endorsement of particular religions. IF the kids want to go pray, let them go to a mosque and make up the lessons they missed on their own time.
And here's your reply:
EyeBrock EyeBrock:
If those 'churches' are supported by registered charities with tax exemptions then the misogynistic practices they perpetuate is our business.
Turning a blind eye to young Canadian women being treated this way may sit well with you andy, but I think it’s outrageous to allow this stuff to go on.
And people moan about Rob Ford not going to Pride.
Isn't that what I said? Comprehension not a strong suit of yours eh andy?
I can break it down into simpler English for you.
If a religious organisation, be it a church, mosque, synagogue etc has tax free exemptions or any special status afforded by a municipal, regional, provincial or federal agency, and the church etc is discriminating against menstruating females or some other group of people, it is something that the greater society should have a say in.
Got that?

You then came back with
EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Are the Jews claiming tax exemptions and running synagogues in Toronto schools? I think not. As usual you miss the point.
I bet the Jews are claiming tax exemptions As for certain are the Catholics. Both of whom discriminate against women. And gays. Don't know why you dragged in the part about schools - that's where you're confusing the issue.
If you want to go after religious groups tax exemptions for not meeting the human rights code, great. I've never heard you go on about it until this story about
preaching Islam in schools which is a separate matter you've managed to conflate. Good luck with going after religious tax exemptions tho.
You accused me of turning a blind eye to Islamic practices in their mosques. Yet you don't seem similarly incensed about Jewish and Catholic (and some Protestant) practices. Guess you have selective vision.
Whizzzzzzzz!
That was the point going over your head andy.
Are the Jews setting up synagogues in public, secular schools during school hours?
Make your point and show me where a public school in Canada is setting up a temple in the cafeteria for Jews to pray during school hours, and discriminating against females in that cafeteria.
The thread is about Muslims setting up Friday prayers in a public and secular school in Toronto, against the Education Act. To add further to this breach they are openly discriminating against female students on school property during school hours.
Bring out Dobbin so we can flog the equine again, I think I saw him twitching.

See how you're conflating the two? I said what people do in their religious houses is up to them,
but what they do in public schools is our business. (I can reprint my quote for the umpteenth time if it still isn't getting thru to you.) You then accused me of turning a blind eye to to discrimination. You're so eager to zing me you don't even read what I say, just twist it to suit yourself.
Brock need learn read. Brock need learn read all of comment, not just part. But no fun for Brock that way. Right?
No fun at all andy.

I hope so.
I'm with Brock on this one Andy, whether deliberate or not, you missed his point entirely.

What point is that?
You earlier wrote that they can do what they want in their own houses of worship. When I said the same thing, Brock said I was turning a blind eye to discrimination. So unless you've changed your position, think we should interfere in churches, you're agreeing with me, not Brock. But that would never do, would it, so you choose to read what you want, not what I've actually written.
Just to be clear, let me quote myself again:

Canadian_Mind Canadian_Mind:
There is a difference between what happens in a church, and what happens in public reference faith.
In church, anything goes with regards to religious practices. I don't give a fuck.
Do you not agree with yourself anymore?
Whizzzzzzzzz!

Wait, it's unclear, is Andy for or against the Moon Landing hoaxers?
