Well rev I didn't miss out out on the peace love thing. Like you I was raised in a small town in north central AB. And I guess our parents instilled a healthy dose of morals on us or something. To me it has always seemrd rather pointlessw to blame people for something because of their race religion or creed. There are bad apples nomatter what color you are.

The thing to do with that guy is set him in the middle of a bunch of (I don't believe in political correctness) negroes,jews, indians, etc and have them set him straight.
I have seen it done on Maury Povich yes sometimes I watch him. Anyways a black guy and a member of the KKK spent a week together and this guy is no longer a member of the kkk. he still has some reservations about blacks but is not a racist .

! It is quite appropriate to respond to such foul dementia with vehemence. It could be said that getting angry and disgusted with an individual such as this is just what he'd want and that one may be sinking to his level. However, it is only through the very public outcrying of abhorance to this type of racism that we can hope to stop it. When we listen, hear and do not react we are simply lending credence to his ravings. 'Silence is acceptance' as someone once said. Personally, I'd like to take this shithead out in the woods and chop his pecker off...of course he'd still be able to talk so maybe he should be shot and pissed on as well.

Point is, at 43 I've lived my whole life in Canada and am damned proud that so many other people and cultures can find safety and acceptance in this great country. It is our diversity that makes us a great power. We do not have a strong military. We do not have a strong dollar. We do not have a strong government. What we do have is the longest undefended border in the world, the longest freshwater beach in the world, the most beautiful sunsets in the world (Wasaga Beach - according to National Geographic) and an incredibly diverse cultural melting pot. This diversity has helped make us a world leader in science, medicine, space exploration and so many other fields.

When I hear this kind of shit in my back yard, I kick ass! This cracker needs to be put in a room full of all those he hates, tied to a chair naked, and have his verbal diarrhea played back for all to hear. I'd like to see just how white his face would be then!

I believe that each individual has inherent rights and that some of those include freedom of speech, but not if those rights are used to spread hatred of other people, based on ANY criteria. All white supremist groups and literature should have been globally outlawed after the fall of Nazi Germany.

Polemarch1.....you are correct of course. Strictly and oversight on my part. Hatred is hatred regardless of who it is directed at or by. Whether or not one is a fan of the Star Trek shows, it is impossible not to be awed and humbled by the farsighted and idealistic view of humanity held by its creator, Gene Roddenberry. At least on earth, the future held the promise of no war, hunger, illness....no need even of money. Everyone, regardless of not only colour or religion, but of actual race (i.e - non-Earthlings) were not only treated fairly but given every opportunity to become whatever they wanted or dreamed of.

I dream of seeing this take shape with my great grand-children.

I know you gave an example from talk tv but I've heard this method working. For this sort of.......sickness as well as other character flaws.

I read a book called "Fuhrer-Ex" by Ingo Hasselbach. He was a former Neo-nazi from East Berlin (before the fall of the wall) He learned the truth about other cultures from a journalist who wanted to write a book about Neo Nazi's. The journalist was a Jew. It was a fascinating book. The path to such hate is more...logical, easier to see the mistakes in the thought process that makes that type of individual.

If hate crimes were punishable by law's with alternative prevention, and re-habilitation such as you've suggested the circle of bigotry would be broken.

I think if schools taught geography and history together young children might realize just similar races are.

I agree with you about being taught geography and history together in school would teach the students about how similar the races are. However I think alot of times schools are where the hatred can begin too. I am talking a bout peer pressure. Kind of like my buddy tells me he is no good because of his race etc ,well I gotta go along with him because he is my buddy.

That kind of racism starts at home. If I'd said anything derogatory about anybodies race as a child at home I'd have found myself sitting on my ass on the floor with a belt mark. Then I'd have spent a couple of hours discussing with my dad the validity of such a stupid remark.

Not many do that to me. Hatred does start in the home for sure. I get along with any race. Everyone does have some sort of prejudice in them. I work for a carnival company rather did till for a lotta yrs. Any ways we all hate going to Abbotsford. The reason is not the east Indians really It is how they try to scam you when they come up to the ride. So with that I guess you can call me a bit of a rasicist I guess. But on the whole when away from the carny environment they are a damn nice buncha guys.

They're aren't trying to "scam" you. In India you don't pay what is asked, you barter. It's expected. It is hard to stop doing something that you've grown up doing.

But you've proved that alot of misunderstandings come from not knowing.

I live in Surrey (sort of had to admit it inorder to make my forthecoming point valid) Surrey has the largest population of Indians outside of India. BC has one of the most culturally diversified population in Canada. I'm white. Visibly obvious really. I've been on the bus with my daughter in Surrey and had a gentleman (who at first I mistook for mentally disabled) say how we (he and I) were the only Canadians on the bus. What he meant was the only white people on the bus. He complained that his son was one of the only white kids in school. Boo hoo. Instead of looking at the positive (that being that his son could know more about other cultures and places without ever having to leave the province) this guy was intimidated by being white on a bus with so many more people of different shades of brown. I hadn't even noticed this until he'd so rudely pointed it out.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to dislike somebody. But perfectly unacceptable to dislike the entire ethnic group based on a few bad apples. Even if somebody meets 100 or more people from a country and doesn't like them how can they possibly hate the entire population? They've not met the entire population, therefore their opinion is uneducated at best.

Never judge a man until you'[ve walked a mile in his moccasons, they say. My dad use to say never judge a man until you've lived in his village, eaten his food, and understand the culture.

Why would anybody be intimidated by another ethnic group is beyond. I grew up with germans,french,russians,etc people from all race and color never bothered me a bit. Even as a kid I could never figure out this hatered thing. We all bleed the same color of blood. I myself like hearing about different cultures.
