why does every american i've met hate Canada?????
Mustang1 Mustang1:
Its historically, culturally and politically important to us. It also traces its constitutional roots 200 years into our colonial past. Don't like it? We don't care.
Again, maybe if you even understood our basic past, culture and politics, you'd know that this is a Constitutional Monarchy (with the Queen as our Head of State), hence the nod to our current Head of State (and to our Imperial past) and since when is acknowledging our culture (such as hockey) a negative trait? Your first "observation" is born out of ignorance whereas the second is merely subjective mush
Really? Get out more.
Seriously, why would anyone waste their time articulating anything to an ingrate like you? Don't let the door hit you on your uncultured, unenlightened, uneducated ass on the way out.
Thumbs up on all you said. Thanks.

Actually, a public health care system in the US would greatly benefit us. For one, the incentive for some Canadian doctors to run to the states to chase the almighty dollar will halt, or slow to a trickle at least. This will also benefit us as we can rely less on importing 3rd world "doctors" to Canada. 2 cases in point. Many years ago I ended up at the emerg with a serious heart problem( a serious car accident and stress built up to it). The "doctor" that saw me by the name of Dr. Yoong, proceded to tell me it
sounded like and inflammation of the lungs and sent me on my merry way with a handful of muscle relaxers and Motrin. NOT what I needed. As it turned out, my pericardium had been damaged.
Case# 2. Recently I was at the clinic with an inflamed testicle(turned out I had somehow twisted my seminal vesicle). The "doctor" one Dr. Noorah proceded to poke me in my abdomen and asked if I ever had my appendix taken out.

Not exactly sure how the two are related and apprently neither was he. He never did check out my nut. I dunno about the rest of Canada but that's what passes for health care in Ontario.
Everyone has an anecdote. Ive had numerous relatives undergo operations(detached retina, hernia surgeries etc) and babies and Ive often gone in for nonsense complaints(im a bit of a hypochondriac) and have been run through a battery of tests with no fuss, problems or long waits. From time to time I hear tales like yours but I seriously cant relate to it. Im not quite sure where you find these people that are treating you. Maybe you're in boonyville and care is better in the big cities? Dunno.
Nope, Windsor and Kitchener was where I got the "quality" care from.

In defence of the doctor, I wouldn't want to check out your nut either.
I wouldn't want you to either
I think you guys have effectively crushed the stereotype that Canadians are pushover-friendly... Atleast for one yank.

Everyone has a story, both here and in the US. Yes they would benifit from a system like ours, but alot of them see it as being too socialist and resist it based on politics and the nay saying of big rich government officials that are lining their pockets with big business dollars. Sure our system is not perfect, sure it needs and overhaul but it's a far better system than the US is currently using.
Insurance companies in the states can cut you off if you use it (your insurance)too much, and 8 out of every 10 bankrupcy claims are due to medicl expenses.
I know folks from Regina that now live in Texas, they have 3 kids and every time they had one they flew to Sakatchewan to have their babies at the expense of their US insurance and guess what, it was STILL cheaper to come here as opposed to just having the kids there by about $15,000.

if you think that medical mistakes don't happen in the states please think again.

Interesting...I grew up in kitchener half my family lives there and both parents in their 60's live in windsor. Maybe you walked under a ladder or broke a mirror as a kid
lol nahhh I don't believe in that stuff. Those were merely 2 isolated instances. There were times where the care I got was exemplary. I guess I should have said, that the brain drain and government stupidity have created more of a hit and miss system when it comes to doctors. I just thot it was no accident that my two worst experiences resulted in having 3rd world doctors
I Grew up in U.S. from 8 months till 30 yrs old... I was born in winnipeg and have many many realtives in Canada.
Canadians are by far the most racist and prejudice people I have ever encountered.
They are so jealous of U.S. it is pathetic... From their news to social conversation they always talk negative about the U.S. but have othing to back it up.
It's like a little brother who hates it's big brother.
Canadians are seriously pathetic..
In all the time I lived in the States I never once heard a negative word about Canada. Most adimre the beautiful wilderness and fisig etc..
But Canadians here have told me they have no use for Americans and that they think they are arrogant...
I really plan on getting a US citizenship and leaving this pathetic envios and jealous country.!
Americans fought for their frredom and invented everything from the light bulb to the telephone, radio and tv
Canada has nothing !
To say that americans dont like Canadians is another way for Canadians to hate American and do nothing as usual up here.
Candians in my eyes are jealous pathetic people and I was born in winnipeg and live in BC Candians .... Grow Up for Gods sake you lil poeple

A Canadian invented the lightbulb. I think you SHOULD move to the US...clearly, you'll fit right in, seeing as how you like to spout off about things you know nothing about. Adios!
A Canadian, Henry Woodward, invented a light bulb in 1874 and patented it. Edison bought the patent and improved on the initial invention.
