I don't know why that would be, but I think you can narrow it down to something that is unique to you because not all americans hate Canadians. Hell, not even a majority of americans hate Canadians.

There! asked and answered. Happy?

A majority of Americans, when polled about Canada, said...and I quote, "Huh?"

You know, the Scots who only use sheep for wool and meat. Hey Gunnair, I hear you got a new pair of rubber boots for Christmas..... have all the sheep now fled the Island?

It's the velcro gloves, not the rubber boots, that sends the sheep running to the hills. 8O

I am American, and I don't hate Canada. I think it's a pretty kick ass place. And I prefer to travel there versus anywhere else in the US.

Maybe it is because Canadians (at least the ones I know and am related to) are laid-back, easy-going, welcoming, happy people that get along with everyone and have a strong relationship with their family. People tend to hate the things they don't understand ;)

It doesn't matter where ever you go there are nutty people on both sides of the border. Ignore the ignorance, not worth getting all worked up about it.

Yeah I always got the same impression as well. When ever I go somewhere for the first time, it doesn't matter what I am doing or where I am but I will always run into a few nice people and have a quick conversation with them. And that's how I generally get a feel for a place.

I guess the only thing I hate about Canada is the lack of rest areas on highways

I dunno man, there seemed to be a shortage of 'em on the Interstate bewteen Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul  but that being said, I always liked travelling the New York Thruway, there's a rest stop like every 30 minutes or less.
