why does every american i've met hate Canada?????
Ha - Good One
Living near the border of Canada/US - many come over the border to get a Canadian newspaper to read, as they say, "the real perspective of what's going on in the US". Not sure if ours is any better, but I'm sure it is more informative than what is released in the US.
Take for example the incident with Bush and the shoe-throwing journalist. US news stations did not show the the whole picture - the journalist was beaten before they took him out the door and Bush was seen laughing in the distance.

Another necro.
I'm not a necro - I wasn't trying to revive anything.
Merely pointing out the censorship between the two medias.

I am one American who seems to be turning into a Canadian. I see
the American heavy handed approach to thing and I see the Canadian methods and thinking and they fall in line with my own.
I don't how many American look down at Canadians, but I can certainly assure you that this is one of them.
By the way Merry Christmas,
Sincerly,
Oh, I've met a few of those. You know, living near the border and all.

Funny how borders create rivalries.
I live ten miles from the BC/Alta. border and it's still going but not as bad as 20 years ago, then it was "You fu**ing yellowjackets coming to BC and stealing our jobs"
They called us yellowjackets because of the yellow licence plates. We then changed to the same color and have been fooling them ever since.
travior travior:
There are many in South Carolina that have never been outside of the state, or at least no further than the mountains of North Carolina. Many cannot even name all the states, much less know where another of these fabled "other" countries are located.

One person actually asked my wife how many oceans she had to fly over to get here from Saskatchewan.

I answered by saying "Three! Michigan, Huron and Superior."

One of my favourites:
"Do you take American?"
My response:
"Yes, but we give change in Yen."
My friend was on a flight from Los Angeles to Calgary with a connection in Chicago or something I think. Anyway, he was sitting next to this girl who looked to be in her late teens and when they were approaching calgary, you could see it's skyline. Apparently, this girl gasped and was like: "Ohmigosh!" my buddy asked her what was wrong, and she said: "Calgary is a city! I thought all Canadian cities were in Ontario!"
Yeah. Calgary is just a field with cows that happens to have an International Airport.
