I don't know about you, but I got through Calculus strictly on faith - I had no idea what I was doing. ;)
I'm someone who gets very uncomfortable doing anything I don't understand. I also tutored people in calculus

No-one can go through life on facts alone. Sometimes you just have to have faith - in people, promises, and various other circumstances.

What I'm trying to say though - is I'm getting tired of hearing people tell others not to force their beliefs on them, and then make fun of all religions.

Can you not see the irony there?
But I'm not pushing "beliefs" on anyone - I never tell B_C that he "must" renouce his religion because bad things will happen to him - I express reasons for my refusal of his beliefs.

Faith (in anything), not being synonymous with religion, is something that I'm perfectly happy to discuss with people willing to share their thoughts. Religion, on the other hand, has nothing to offer me but guilt for poor ol' Jesus, and fear of fire and brimstone (substitute equivelent references for any other religion). Anyone (eg, B_C) who offers that gets the reaction you've seen thus far.

Come to the light of Buddha or else suffer a terrible next life.

B_C, I do believe this is your test.

I respect your lack of faith. Why can you not give me the same?

We can, but you're not a blind fool like B_C, who needs to be herded.

Any comments we say are directed to B_C, not Christians in general, even though they may seem otherwise.

When will people learn arguing about religion will get you NOWHERE. the only thing that's going to happen is arguing to no end. no one will be smarter in the end, trust me I've done it half my life, I learned my lesson. Let it go, everyone has to believe in something, God or no God

I'm more interested in figuring out what's "right" than what's "fair". If I said, "British Columbia borders Prince Edward Island," does adding, "but I respect the opinion of anyone who believes otherwise," make a lick of difference to the fact that it's wrong?

Also, I can't respect any belief that extends to me, and presumes my eternal suffering in Hell.

One is a verifiable fact, the other isn't.

I can't prove God exists, but neither can you prove He doesn't.
Yes, but it can be proven that you've got no good reason to believe he exists.

I don't make the statement that God can't possibly exist - Atheism means a lack of belief in God, rather than a belief in no God, and that's an important point. If God/Jesus/Shiva/Zeus came to me right now, tapped me on the head and said, "Hey I'm real", then I'd cease to be an atheist.

All atheists are technically agnostic in that manner.

Many many Christians don't believe in Hell. Don't quote me on this, but I don't think Hell is even mentioned in the Bible.
It is.

Lack of faith????? Who says anyone of us has a lack of FAITH???

I have tones of faith......

Faith that I will get up each morning

Faith that I will get my job done each day

Faith that I will provide for and take care of my family

Faith that I will go to sleep each night

I do not need any book or person to tell me how to get through a day.

I can be sure of one thing and one thing only. When shit hits the fan, I will be the one left standing there to deal with it, me ane me alone. If I am expecting someone or something to deal with it for me then I will be in for a rud awakening.

religion is a barrier to one's intellectual development, and in some regions, it's a barrier to an entier country. WE NEED TO BREAK FREE FROM IT.
There is good religion and bad religion, Canada/USA lotta those founders were actually Bible believers.

I honelsty think that religion is a crutch that B_C needs to lean on to get through day to day living.

Thats all religion is, a crutch. Something for someone to believe in inorder to get through their day. The sad thing is, when that crutch breaks, they have nothing.
I have actually thouruly researched, analysed. asked plenty of questions before I went all the way with Born-again Christianity. Today it has made good effects on all my family, children. The Bible has very good guidelines that we try to follow. It has lotsa good benefits in it. It has brought order in ur lifes, home, before there was disorder. Only one that has walked thru something, knows exactly what has benefited Him.

Are you, too, implying that religious people don't/can't think?
Anyone who accepts the something or someone else as guidance is doing less thinking than if they hadn't.

B_C shows a blatant incapability to think for himself. Other supposedly more rational members have expressed that they'd kill hundreds of innocent people if "God" asked them to directly. Anything that can't be rationalized in religion is stamped with "Faith", as if that's an acceptable response.

Religious people can think, but they obviously choose not to when it comes to certain matters. That's faith for you.
........ I do alot of my own desision making. God has given everyone a brain , He expects us to use it, and I do. I also ask for his guidance when I need it. Believe it or not, man can only go so far on some areas in life. So I am balanced. People killing under God's orders?.....People used to do that actually, but thats all OLD testament stuff, I have posted scriptures on CKA that state that it's not that at all, anymore. As far as the extreme christianity. I cannot speak for them. There are people like that, they misenterprate the scriptures, like the muslims misinterprate the Quran.
