This isn't really new news, it's actually quite a no brainer. All you have to have is knowledge of history, and a current awareness of today's societies.

Let's try and put that together sha'll we?

Before the Industrial age, pretty much all wars was based on religion. Because of all these religous wars, they caused mass deaths and mass destruction.

Now if we look at current day society, where is all the drama placed? Religion, either it be islam extremists suicide bombing the 'infidels' cities. Christian Hate groups, hating something new every day. "That guy on the bus deserved to die, because if god hates somebody he will make sure they die. I am going to go protest his funeral, and give the family shit because I am a nut job religious bitch".

You name a Drama currently, 99.9 of the time the reason will be religion.

Now let's compare societies sha'll we? Western countries have many religious views, and freedoms to join any religious group that fits there needs or beliefs and express those views. However religion doesn't dictate how a country is run, unless that country so happens to be run by a religious nut job. Nothing is worse then a country run by a religous nut job, who's religion believes in a end of the world and the nut job has power to launch nukes.

Anyways back to the point, western socities boom with many advances and freedoms. Freedom to do that, and freedom to do this (Except China). However if you look at a country that is dictated by religion, mostly in the middle east. They are always un-developed, with the most lack of human rights and always war torn. Infact no different from the medieval ages except everybody is packing AK-47's instead of swords. Maybe a little worse then the medieval ages in some middle east countries, medieval ages they actually put in prison the people who raped woman, or atleast even put nobody to prison compared to putting woman to prison for being raped, while doing nothing to the rapist.

If I had the will, and time. I can name many periods through out our history and most of the bad times all had something to do with religion. It's just obvious that religion causes drama, and worses everything off. It would be better if everybody who's religous stopped using religion as a way of life. Believe in it, but if the pope tells you gays are immoral. Use common knowledge, did god actually tell you gays were immoral, or did some jackoff with power tell you that. Further more, why did god wait this long to say that instead of preaching it earlier on with all those commandment thingies.

I love how religion keeps saying that if you are a athiest you are more prone to do sin, and sinful things. When infact athiests are doing far better off in that section then religious people. Expecially religious nut jobs.

According to writing directed by God back then and now translated say that he had rebelled. Now why would God test his own son and tourture his son with Satan. If you had a son would you do that think about it logically and then I think you will understand what I mean and don't say you wouldn't care becasue you would!

You'll have to first prove that your god, his son, and satan exist before you can prove your point, rookie. Good luck with that.

Well, I always know that God is on the winning side of a football game. I just wish He'd give me the point spread.

Good luck proving without a doubt they don't exist.

Societies are worse off when they use God's name like a sabre without stoping to ask God if it is really what he wants. When someone rushes into a battle saying "God will make me victorious," he might want to make sure that God wants the battle fought in the first place.

Many people have just enough religion and belief in God to doom themselves. Even Satan himself believes in God. The only difference is that Satan will not place himself in the hands of Jesus Christ and trust in Him. You can believe in God and Jesus all you want, but without placing your faith and trust in Him, you are still doomed.

I'll stand by while the Christian-bashing begins...

(Yes, I'm tired and grouchy today. One too many days in a row here at work.)

Just so you know Satan is actaully an angel that turned bad against God and because he was so powerful he belived he could overun god but that didn't turn out to well. Now he is banned and evil!
Although i think i agree with you in your opinion! The first paragraph anyway your not very clear in the second one.

Actually, Lucifer and one third of all the angels in Heaven rebelled against God because they had a problem with how he was treating humans and angels...

Let me make it simple.

Lucifer: "Hey, um, God? What's this shit I hear about these things called "humans"?"

God: "Oh, they're my lastest invention. I made them in my image."

Lucifer: "Um, but we're also made in your image, only we get wings and super-badass powers and weapons."

God: "Your point?"

Lucifer: "Well, why are you saying that man is all perfect and shit? You also gave humanity the gift of choice and even let them remain intelligent and let them live even after they defied you. I mean, us angels don't get a choice. I cite the examples of Loki and Bartelby as two noticeable examples of your supposed strictness. So yeah, me and a third of all the angels in heaven think that it's total bullshit that us divine angels have to be subservient to you and these pathetic humans, who can't even really compare with us."

God: "STFU, GTFO"

Lucifer: "OMFG, WTF?!"

Civil War of heaven breaks out.

That's pretty much what happened...

therookieca @ Thu Oct 09, 2008 5:25 pm

Ok sure but thats what I'm trying to say that they rebelled and now thats that.
By the way where did you read that the Devil was angry with how God was treating humans or is that some random shit you picked up from some story that was interpreted.

Reverend Blair @ Thu Oct 09, 2008 5:30 pm

Uh, rookie? I'm not the one making the extraordinary claim that a magic invisible man in the sky created us so he could spy on us and decide whether we'd been naught or nice.

You are making the extraordinary claim, so the burden of proof falls on you.

Nice reference to Dogma, great movie  That's the only reason I know what you're talking about.

I'm not a fan of the violent form of religion that Americans espouse, however, it's a bit of stretch to say that it has made America inferior, considering they are the sole military superpower on the planet. Can't argue with success!

Interesting. Biblical scholars spend their lives interpreting obscure texts in reference to this supposed myth, AM watches a coupple Christopher Walken(the Prophecy for those not familiar with Walken as the Archangel Gabriel) movies and one Jay and Silent Bob flick and has an epiphany.

that depends a lot on how and when you measure success though, Zip. The US was arguably more democratic and had higher aspirations when it was less religious. The wave of fundamentalist Christianity that has overtaken them in the past few decades has done serious harm to their scientific and educational advancements.

Lawyers guns and money might make for a good Warren Zevon tune, but it's a shitty way to run a country.
