Brenda Brenda:
Seriously, let me rephrase. The crimes that you say, are imo no reason for the deathpenalty.

And, it is not up to you to judge that. We have laws for that, and judges and juries. Killing a burgler because he might steal your flatscreen and your laptop are no reason for the deathpenalty.

That better? ;-)

Shouldn't matter. You don't know if the guy, before he swipes your tv, isn't going to decide to have some fun. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time (in a hospital).

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
My argument is exactly the same as the Canadian law's argument.

Self-Defence and protection for only as much as necessary.

The favoured option is to restrain the person. Or to stop them, but not to kill.

If he's waving a gun around and has fired off a few bullets, shoot him in the hand.

If he's coming at you with a knife, restrain him. Learn some damn martial arts, grab his arm and pin him. This is why I would keep a pair of handcuffs in my house.

Justified Killing can pretty much always be avoided. Perhaps the exception is hostage scenario's. Just take them out. Injuring/Restraining them is both Dangerous and Far too Risky. Then again, that's why we have negotiators.

But whatever. Do whatever you want to, let the court decide your fates.

You really haven't had any experience with any of these scenarios have you? If you had, you would know what you typed is ridiculous. Trained police officers would likely not be able to shoot a handgun out of someone's hand, so how the hell would the average Joe on the street?

But sometimes, I think they only way to be truly tolerant and truly open and sane... Is to be Atheist/Part of an Atheist-Styled Religion.

Only then can people be "Awake"... Religion is what is immoral.

I'm reading comments on a Christian facebook group... It's sickening me... Infact, it's pissing me off.
One second, I need to go punch a wall, I'm freaking ticked.

What makes you any better than the people you are talking about?

Restraint at the risk of injury is not exactly favourable.

Wrong. Center body mass. Any where else could be a miss and result in people getting hurt.

What if he knows martial arts?

ROTFL Oh god, ROTFL No, I just mean be quick, grab him, pin him. Not easy, but whatever.

Okay, okay, whatever.

You'd probably get away with blowing out his brains across your kitchen walls in the States.

But don't come up to Canada and expect the same type of leniency towards homicide, ;)

That's not homicide. You really don't understand this at all. Shooting him, regardless of area, is probably going to get you put in jail. Might as well shoot to stop, not to wound.

HOMICIDE???????????? if I kill a intruder in my home its homicide? your a retard and thats putting it mildly. If a intruder enters my home to threaten me and my family I will kill them!

So you are saying the victim has no rights in Canada?

I would never aim for the head to small of a target center mass or chest area. hit the lung and the poor sucker drowns to death.

It certainly would be homicide. Homicide is a factual finding that does not infer culpability. Culpable homicide is manslaughter or murder.

Not a bad idea to aim one at the head. Two the chest won't help if he's got armour.

Tricks @ Mon Jun 09, 2008 9:43 pm

Most intruders won't have body armour, too expensive, and even if they do, being shot still hurts like a bitch, will stop him temporarily. By that time one would figure out he has body armour and blow their head off. :D

I'm having a hard time not laughing thinking of C pulling some Karate Kid stance BS, as the burglars roll around on the floor howling......with laughter. hey, maybe that's when he can slap the the plastic cuffs on them.

I am not sure how the discussion got to this point, but self-defense seems a relatively solid justification for shooting or stabbing an intruder in one's home.
