OK we get it already, fer fuck's sake.

Being a atheist as well as a skeptic I leave this stuff up to others. (since you brought it up!)

So, you found your position undefendable, and call me a pompous fart? Hook, like and sinker. It's fish for dinner.

Your posts are obviously partisan hackery.

Care to prove me wrong. I don't mind.

How can one prove things that don't exist?

Brush up on your debate tactics before coming after me.

He also sneaks into your house at night and steals your socks, raids your fridge and leaves the lights on when he leaves.

He demagnetized all my bank and credit cards!

When has Harper said or even hinted at any of the things you claim he has in your first quote? If he is truly a proud man of faith, these quotes will be easy for you to find. But they aren't are they? They are simply more unprovable partisan bullshit people like to spew around elections.

Here's a hint, there are probably actual issues you can attempt to bring to this discussion. But that will take work, and thinking for yourself. Having an opinion and backing it up are wildly different parts of debating.

I edited my post, as you will no doubt react to.
Mr Harper is a man of faith, likely proud, likely determined to place this somewhere.

You assuming I am projecting my partisanship allows me to question yours. Are you right in the middle politically or just swallowing the Conservative line because your daddy told you to.

Good grief but you are a pompous fart!

I have seriously considered your points, Taseko, and have concluded that you are wrong. Please adjust your opinion accordingly.

If that were true you wouldn't have raided their fridge. You'd have just puked in their shoes and passed out in the hallway.

C'mon, that's bullshit. How can Caleb prove you wrong? I actually agree with you that Harper probably believes those things, since he attends churches that do. But since he's never spoken publicly about his beliefs, there's no way to prove it either way. Both of you guys should have to stand in the corner.

If things don't exist, there may be no evidence of those things. The argument is; I believe there is evidence, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you. Your "partisanship" may be showing. Take me to task for the evidence I presented. Work on that. If it is bullshit show me!

Ok I'll play. So because Harper attends a church he's going to turn Canada into a religiously fundamental country. Yet one of your links also mentions Martin belonging to the Catholic Church. Did Martin shove Christian rule and law down your throat? No, so why assume someone else that attends Church will do the same simply because he's not a Liberal?
Get a fucking grip dude.

I agree that there is no way, even though Harper attends the church, that he does or doesn't believe these thing.

It concerns me that he is so secretive about his beliefs. I'd like a discussion about it.

I must say that as rough as you guys are I really appreciate the candor. If I don't get too badly beat up I will learn the system here and hopefully adjust my rhetoric.

I feel comfortable here, oddly enough.

Lemmy @ Tue Apr 19, 2011 11:27 am

We're supposed to live in a society where church and state are separate. And, to steal from Trudeau, the government has no business in the prayer-rooms of Canadians. I don't give a shit what any politicians' religious beliefs are. Their job is to represent OUR beliefs, not theirs. Likewise, I don't a give a shit whether the guy flying the plane I'm on believes in god, which god or how many gods, so long as he's able to get the plane off the ground and back on it again safely.

Umm, I did. Let me explain: "Harper is an ass". This is an opinion and is not debatable because it is neither right nor wrong. "Harper believes in the Easter Bunny". This is stated as fact, and is debatable.

Prove your statements that "He believes that the Earth is about 7000 years old", "He believes that man and dinosaurs existed at the same time. "

I asked you to prove these facts as you have stated them. As pointed out, you may believe them, but there is no proof of these facts. Provide the evidence.

As I did not make these statements, it is not up for me to prove them. Show us evidence. Logically it is not possible to prove that he does not believe these things, so my part in this discussion is over because I am not allowed to talk while standing in a corner.

Harper won't change one of the most secular countries in the world into a religiously fundamental country. I don't believe this for a moment.

My concern is how can a guy, who may (or may not!) believe this dogma, be able to concern himself with education, abortion rights, freedom of speech, women's rights, science etc.

I only wanna know!
