The Jews never believed that the Messiah would be the 'Son of God, anymore than any man was a son of God. There have been a few messiahs in Jewish history. Cyrus the great was declared a messiah for rending the Babylonian captivity and allowing the Jews to return to their homeland to rebuild the Temple. It's only Muslims and Christians that have referred to Jesus as the Messiah or the Word of God.

I think people should wear what they like. I think the issue with garb in some countries is that women are punished, even beaten or killed, for not wearing the clothes directed by the men. Whereas the nun, at least for the last couple of hundred years, is free to wear what she likes, including a habit, without sanction.

I would have thought that was obvious.

Sir, Muslims are almost more than 1 billion people on this planet earth...How it can be assumed and generalize that Muslim women are oppressed or terrorized by their men just because she is wearing Scarf/Niqab...??? This is the impression we get from west.

In Pakistan I have yet to hear such a case where our women were punished just because they decided not to wear veiling. And Pakistan is Islamic Republic. I don't know about other Muslim countries but here are Muslim Pakistani women.







Some isolated cases cannot and will never define Muslim women. Most of the Muslim women wear scarf out of their own will because Islam asks to do so and even if she takes a scarf just because his husband wants so...Isn't it describe the strong family/husband wife love - taking care of each other's wishes...Husbands also adopt to what their wives want. It goes both ways. I don't know about men who beat women in my circle or by large in Pakistani society And we Pakistanis are quite religious people.

Why this impression Muslims get as if their women are being called oppressed and terrorized not because of some countries/isolated cases where women got beaten but just because they obey Islam and wear/take veiling...???

And not to mention when talking about oppression and biasness against Muslim women with scarf...It is the west or should I say right wingers in west who have started hating Muslim women just because they take scarf.

I personally like veiling...Saving the most beautiful part or body of yours only for your husband (the person who loves or will be loving you the most) rather than satisfying other men's lust.

No one is forced to join the Catholic Church and then become a nun. But in a growing number of fucked up Islamic countries women are FORCED to wear all sorts of demeaning outfits under penalty of prosecution and even death.

It just comes down to choice for me. If a woman chooses a veil, I have no problem with that. If she is forced, then I have an issue. We have boob burqas in Canada. By law, there is no requirement for a woman to cover her breasts, however the vast majority still do, whether due to choice to follow moral traditions, or because to many men a topless woman is seen to be an invitation to sex.

I hang out with lots of topless and naked women We all go camping together. I'm all about ending the boob burqa.
