Jesus Camp

Who doesn't find this disturbing?

stratos @ Thu Oct 05, 2006 10:04 am

I'll hold off comment till I find out if they mean a part of Jesus army as being militant or going out and preaching the word. I could be way off on this but I suspect the producer will turn out to be a left winger and put a spin on it. Still I think I would rent this to view it no way would i go to the movie theater to see a movie like this.

I do agree some of the clips are a bit disturbing but are they taken out of context... I am hopeing they are.

Holy Shit. That is probably the most terrifying thing I've seen in awhile. I...don't...even...how? This is insanity. Holy shit...

So long as they keep their extremism to themselves they have a right to say what they wish and act as they want.

But if they want to start something they'll get stomped like a bug. PDT_Armataz_01_40

For those who have a visceral reaction to these extremist Christians I'd also appreciate it if you'd have the same reactions when muslims say and *do* things that are just as bad if not worse.

I'll admit, i'd prefer to see the movie in its entirety before I pass judgement, but from the trailer those people are bizzare.

The thing to remember about the people in the movie is that they are Charismatics; the kind of people who try to speak in tongues and go into convulsions. Even the more extreme Protestant denominations (like the kind who think the Pope is the anti-Christ) think these people are out of their minds.

Moreover, taking inspiration from Hamas and Hezbollah for your own religion indoctrination camp is probably not the best model to use.

Oh and Stratos, Here's an interview with the movie's producers. While the interview is on a lefty site, the producers are nowhere near the anti-religious zealots one would expect

Why is this in the conservative party section? This is not even from Canada.

$1:
This is a Conservative Party forum meant for like-minded discussion, if you want to flame or debate in open, please use the main Canadian Politics forum. Post Conservative party news & documents.

I post a lot of dirt on scandels and corruption, much of it involving the Liberals, and I put it in the general thread because I believe it is of interest to all voters. I have respected the party sections and because I'm not a Lib or NDP, I've pretty much stayed out.

Can we please move this to a more appropriate section? This has nothing to do with the CPC, except as a pathetic attempt to further the religious right boogy man.

Sorry about that. I wasn't quite sure where to put this and just put it in the same folder as other religious topics. If this isn't the right place for this, Mods please move this to the apropriate folder. Wasn't trying to put it in the wrong place.... sorry.

On the otherside, I would like to be conservative but refuse to sleep with fundies. In a way, I'm calling for a different coalition. Let the fundies go to the CHP.

Not that it didn't confirm to me anything I didn't know already but that was thoroughly disturbing. Fancy brainwashing kids so fanatically from an early age. No wonder I dislike organised religion with a passion.

Looked like a trailor for a film : when is it coming out if it hasn't already? Can you get the DVD in European-format? Would love to see it.

That's not the message most of the people here seemed to get.
