The Tigers managed to come through with a win over the Jays today to end the streak with a 3 - 2 victory. Ah well.........nice while it lasted. Carrera had himself a great game and Aaron Sanchez has been named to the All Star Game.
Damn......only one day left before the All-Star break......of course the guys will be trying to get another streak under way on Sunday vs Detroit, then follow up on it after the break when they start the 2nd half of the season with a 3 game series in Oakland on Friday......
RA will be on the mound for the Jays today. I always get a bit nervous when I know RA's pitching. He can be deadly with that knuckle ball of his but he can also throw some really wild pitches that advance runners or bring them home. Hopefully, the bats will be there to give him some support. GO JAYS GO!
This is just TOOOO GOOOOOOD not to share........What was she thinking!!!!!
It wasn't just a beer.....it was a full plate of food.....
Way to go Donaldson......
What a grand game for our guys today. 6 - 1 win over Detroit to take the series 3 - 1. Well done, Jays - well done indeed. Josh with a homer. Michael scores a run. Thole scores two runs. RA with, to me, one of his best games all season and only his second win at home - going to 7 innings for the team.
It was a year ago after the all star break that they got on the famous roll of 2015.
They know how stupid they looked wasting booze on phony celebrations that didn't mean shit, time to kick it up a notch and finish strong, looking like you've be there before.
Highlight of last night's game for me and for many fans was the epic at bat by Devon Travis who managed go through 14 pitches - most of them foul balls before he was walked. Devon also scored the winning run when he reached home off a wild pitch. The Jays win their second game of the series 7 - 6 in 12 innings. They will try for the sweep against the Padres today.
GO BLUE JAYS!
After 104 games the Blue jays now lead the AL East Division....
The Jay's stint leading the AL east didn't last long, one day, but thanks to Jose Bautista hitting his 300th career home run tonight against the Houston Astros they are now only 1.0 games behind the Baltimore Orioles. Tonight's win over the Astros also ends an 8 game losing streak at Houston's Minute Maid Park.
Bautista the newest member of 300-HR club
HOUSTON -- Jose Bautista picked up another milestone on Tuesday night, when he slugged the 300th home run of his career.
Bautista became the 10th active player to reach the 300-homer plateau with a solo shot off Astros right-hander Lance McCullers that gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The blast was like many of his previous home runs, a no-doubter to left.
According to Statcastâ„¢, Bautista's 14th home run of the season traveled a projected 402 feet. It left his bat at 110 mph, his personal best.
The veteran slugger now has two homers since being activated from the 15-day disabled list on July 25.
J.A. Happ wins his 15th game of the season while Encarnacion belts his 30th HR of the season, his 5th with 30+ HRs. The Jays win 3 of 4 games against Houston after losing the previous 8. With today's win the Blue Jays are now tied with Baltimore for the top spot in the AL East. Tomorrow sees them starting a 3 game series against defending World Series champions, the Kansas City Royals.
I'm not on the wagon yet, but I'm following it.
So I'm wondering if it was fan reaction to Sanchez being sent back to the bull pen, that created a new job in the rotation for him?
Down 5-0 to the NY Yankees in the 5th, following a rain delay the Jays come back in the 6th inning to score 4 runs thanks in part to HRs from Troy Tulowitzki and Russell Martin. In the 8th inning they managed to score 8 runs thanks to HRs from Edwin Encarnación and another from Russell Martin, final score 12-6 Blue Jays. Following tonight's game the Blue Jays are once again on top of the AL East, one game ahead of both the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles, who lost their game today against Boston 5-3. Today's win tied the 3 game series with the NY Yankees 1-1 with the final game scheduled for 10:00am PDT Wednesday.
