Are you kidding me? It happens all the time. That's why I don't do it anymore. I have never once seen or heard of that in recent years. It's definitely not a common occurrence, especially in Canada.
How many times have you walked down the street hand-in-hand with your male friends or kissed them in public or at a straight night club? Never? Oh surprise.
Dan holding hands and kissing his friend. Oh crap, just no

Don't do this to me dude. Nightmares tonight I don't need.
ROTFL
I think Dan would punch the guy in the neck if his friend made a move on him, lol
Not sure wtf I'd do if some dude made a move on me.

I've been hit on by gay people a few times,

I'm getting used to it, lol
If some guy tried to kiss me...
*scratches head*
I got no idea.

It's yet to happen and let's hope it never does... lol

Seriously though, walking down the street in Toronto I see it all the time, and never heard any negative comments.
So? You think it doesn't exist based on the brief moments you share a sidewalk with these people?
Regardless, that's in a big city where people are more open-minded.
I'm somewhat agree with you.
I can't walk down the street in my Leafs Jersey without being laughed at... I'm sure a gay couple gets atleast a few odd stares and possibly some redneck fucktard rolling down the street in a pickup truck yelling "Fuck You Fag!" every so often...
But hey, that's society. It'll change eventually.
Being gay get's the same abuse as wearing a sports jersey in right wing Canada. Oh yeah, lots of discrimination there then.

Dude... Dan... Listen buddy...
Society isn't fully tolerant yet...
It's getting there...
But there are still the ignorant type who will smirk and laugh.

Of course. But when something like being gay is being put on the same level as being a leafs fan, you can't really say there is a massive problem... or that they are being discriminated against on a huge scale.

No I don't deny it. But it is not very common any more. There are a few, but then I would say get some thicker skin, and deal with it. Everyone gets made fun of for one reason or another. So don't act like you are some charity case that needs special attention. You're not. No gays are. No one is.
Charity case? LOL. I didn't ask for anything except for some understanding.

No one is understood. Why should you be?

I was a target of insults because of my beliefs and my dreams in highschool. Should I have gone and cried about it? No. So why should anyone else?

I don't recall this topic being about tolerance of gays. I thought this one was about tolerance of straight firemen who didn't want to be participating in a gay pride parade

I didn't hang around with them, but there were alot of homosexuals. Wasn't a big deal. Hell we had a homosexual club at my highschool. A couple people kinda went "What?" Then forgot about it

Oh and why is it always guys you are mentioning?

Were they kissing and holding hands in the hallway like the straight couples do? I bet not.
As for me mentioning the males more than the females, gay males are much less tolerated than the gay females.

Brief?
How about a highschool then? You would think that would be the worst for it no? Never happened there either.

HALT.
'Gay' is still a discriminatory remark in High school. Maybe not in Left-Wing dominated Ontario.
If you walked down the hallways holding your friends hand, I GUARANTEE atleast at my school that someone would walk up and PUNCH you in the face. Homosexuality is NOT accepted at ALL by most males in High Schooled. While Much of the Female student body is completely tolerant, seeing a non-homophobic male in high school for me has always been rare.
