were you born yesterday NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION is one of the US goals we would not ley Canada go nuclear. And i know canada and the US will more than likely never go to war but if we did we could beat the Canadian military anywhere on the battlefield stop assuming shit realize the US is a different nation than Canada if we invade we seak to distroy your military we are not challenged by trditional warfare the only thing way to beat the US is with WMDs that is the only way
Me thinks option # 2 Zipper!
Well, you've probably noticed I'm no fan of George W. Bush and his administration, but I did support the missile defence initiative. I could dream up all these policy reasons, but I think it was the technogeek in me -- I saw it as an opportunity to get Canada invovled in some high-tech aerospace R&D, which may have resulted in some nice private industry spin-offs. And maybe a few bucks for our starving military.
shut up peter you obviously dont know what you are talking about. Nuclear powerplants are what you get for being a democracy. Nuclear weapons are very different from power plants. Other nations like Iran dont deserve them and we dont trust them. You guys our military leaders would laugh in your face if you tried to take us on like a military and if yall did seek nuclear weapons we WOULD put a helluva lot of preasure on you, and if you didnt stop then we would attak but only after we had made clear that yall stop or get a taste of american air power. I bet you have never seen a B2 bomber drop a MOAB bomb. Plus the reason yall have the ability to spend your money on benefits is cuz ur nation knows som1 stronger is backing them we dont we are the strength of the world we have allys but we are as tough as it gets, and another thijng nukes insure our security if all else fails it did for the world in the Cold War if all else fails then we have the ability to eliminate all human life on this planet. and last off i dont want to use puntuation cuz i dont feel like it
A post as ill-conceived as it was ill-written.
Britain has nukes and Britain is the closest ally of the USA and the USA is SAFER because Britain has nukes.
Canada is the second closest ally to the USA (the Canadians are STILL side-by-side with the USA in Afghanistan) and the USA would be SAFER still if Canada was also a nuclear power.
I think most Brits would also agree with me on this - a nuclear armed Canada would be nothing but a force for freedom in the world.
I think the only real stumbling block is that the USA & Britain would like to see Quebec separate before Canada goes nuclear if only to prevent the untrustworthy French from accessing more nuclear technology than they already have.
A strong Canada makes the Western Hemisphere safer from attack. Period.
As the recent offer of a free missile defense system from the USA as an example - the USA will foot the bill to arm Canada and make Canada stronger if they'll accept it.
If Canada could deploy a carrier task force in both oceans and deploy a rapid deployment force of their own along with some serious submarine firepower I'd cheer like hell for them!
It was really sad recently when Denmark seized a couple islands along Baffin Bay and Canada had little to meet the invasion with.
It's not like the USA is going to want to get involved as Denmark is also an ally.
But if push came to shove the Danes would no doubt find themselves on the receiving end of a shitstorm of US firepower.
That is, if we were asked to do so.
Even if we weren't asked, if shots were exchanged between Canadian and Danish forces I'm fairly confident the Canadians would have some mysteriously successful actions.
But I digress.
My point is that if Canada cannt defend against freaking Denmark, then what happens if Canada has to meet a challenge from Russia or China?
A strong Canada will never be faced with that challenge.
The current Canada can't defend against Denmark.
I'll guarantee you that China and Russia noticed this.
The USA is safer if Canada is stronger than it is. No way around it.
Im curious, what exactly constitutes a "Nuclear" power? The technology to potentially build Nuclear weapons or pertaining Nuclear weapons as of now? In my sense Canada already is a nuclear power because we have nuclear power plants in Ont and Quebec and if we really wanted to (for reasons unknown) we could develop nuclear arms although wasting billions of tax payers money on something that will never or shouldnt be used.
And nukes are pretty cheap to produce given that Canada already has metallic plutonium and beryllium.
