Canada-U.S.-war...possibility?
Nobody wins in war. The personal devastation always outweighs any political gains made by the victor.
Hey, Zen...How's Seattle? How's Mrs. Zen?
What you say is true in a larger sense. Nobody does win at war. Individuals can profit immensely though. Your adopted president and his PNAC advisors are among those individuals.
I can never imagine canada vs. The US in a war... what I CAN se is some day the 2 of us banding together and possibly creating a super state of North America to defend ourselves from every one else though... That is a scenario I can see...In the furure when europe has been devatsted and the arid countries cant grow enough food because we (Can & US) have quit sending them wheat and aid, they would want to come here to gain access to our great farm land and rich resourses... That I can see. A continent/country, with us against the rest of the world.. I think that need be North America could survive with out needing to import from any where else.... But then that brings us the the next question... President or Prime minister??? LOL
Global warming could have a serious impact on our ability to grow food in North America though, RH. That would affect the US more than Canada according to most computer models because we would gain arable land up north as we lose it in the south.
Would it lead to war? Possibly. It would depend on who was in the White House and who was in the House of Commons.
I don't know about Rev_Blair, but I would be all for a joint Canada/US country. I think it would be a cool thing, something kind of like the European Union. Canada could become a 51st state. Of course, the US would have to have universal health care and would have to downsize their army, and I think more Canadians would be against the idea than Americans seeing as more Canadians hate and despise Americans than Americans hate and despise Canadians.

Thats the day i join the resistance/underground.
And that's the reason the world will never have peace. Glad to see that you used to talk about how bad patriotism is, and how there should be no governments, yet you say that if the US and Canada joined together, you would be a part of a resistance movement against that? I think that it would be a great idea for them to join, I mean in a European Union kind of way. It could be a step towards peace and brotherhood of our two countries, and it could strengthen North American. Of course, it would have to come at a time when the US isn't hated, but if it did I think it would be cool, finally a part of North America without borders, made stronger, with representatives from Canada and the US in government. If you are against this, then I guess you're against getting rid of governments and you want to have seperations of countries, although I know your anti-americans and you have a prejudice against Americans, so I can't expect anything else from you.

North America cannot be like the EU though, Johnny. That's the problem. The US would have too much power and Canada would have no way of balancing that power. We would become less than a 51st state...more like Puerto Rico or Panama...with decisions being made for us by people who neither understand nor care to understand Canadian issues.
The smaller nations of the EU are protected because there are many of them who share similar interests and because the major powers balance each other off. North America does not have that kind of diversity in governments.

I`ll be with you, we can be the "insurgents" of Canada.
We can then be classified as "terrorists"

Canada is far more powerful than puerto rico or panama. In the US, the States have their own rights to make their own laws, such as California who said people can buy medical marijuana. It isn't about Canada balancing the US power, but us coming together and forming a stronger north america. We would be one country, and Canada would be a seperate state, but the people in it's capital could come up with their own laws, because it would follow under the states rights. Right now wouldn't be a good time though, cause I don't think Canada would want to join with the US's budget problems.
Those budget problems aren't going to disappear any time soon, Johnny. Your grandchildren will be paying off that debt. If the US keeps going the way it is, so will their grandchildren. Another reason why Canada shouldn't even consider getting any closer to the US than we already are.
Canada is far more powerful than Panama or Puerto Rico now, Johnny. That's got a lot to do with us being a sovereign state that enacts its own policies. If we give up our ability to do that, our power would go the way of the dodo.

You might have more power than those countries, but you don't have THAT much power haha. I just thought it would be a good idea for the two countries to come together, a brotherhood of man, and then we can both join the European Union, and have somewhat of a brotherhood of the West. I mean, if you are against this, and want there to be seperation, then go ahead, I just thought it would be a cool thing to have some what of a superstate, I mean think of what the combined economies of all those countries would look like, I mean the US, the EU, and Canada.

I don't want a brotherhood with criminals.

that sounds a heck of a lot like it is today, minus some small details...

Yeah, and to think you were one of the people who was talking about how bad patriotism is and how we shouldn't have governments. Well, looks like you are really just a patriotic jingo.
