The low US dollar is good for US exports, true.
The US economy very much hinges on the price of oil. Does anybody disagree with this?
The United States buys its oil. Oil supplies are decreasing as is the value of the American dollar.
Still with me?
As the American dollar becomes less valuable, the yanks will have to pay more for goods they import. Oil for instance.
Gas at the pumps is supposed to hit 1.50 this summer.
When are you plan on paying of the debt... or even stopping the deficit?
You think Dubya is good for the economy? Greenspan disagrees... argue with him.
$1:
Oil supplies are decreasing
Not so. Known oil reserves are greater now than at any time in history. Besides oil is now known to be a renewable resource, although many are not aware of this and still believe that oil comes from decaying dinasours.
$1:
...as is the value of the American dollar
Currency fluctuations are normal in any healthy economy. As interest rates rise, so will the USD.
Deficits..not good for interest rates.
alienofwar: I understand how you feel but you seem to be bacing your feelings on how bad things were in Canada on your problems with the visa*.
Well for one our government is not in debt like the U.S. is so if you think puting your country in debt is worth you and your wife saving a couple of bucks then thats good for you, but it just proves what kind and understanding people you are and how patriotic you are to your country. Yes the U.S. has some things cheaper than Canada but if you prefer to live in a place where the cheese is cheaper and children are searched for weapons as they enter their schools then once again ...good for you...

Canada does have debt.
Sgtmills do you do research or just aimlessly believe everyhthing you hear. Canada is runnig at a surplus. Meaning after it pays its bills it has extra money . Then it uses that money to pay down its debt.
