Okey everybody Deep breath.................................exhale.

Better? To anybody that thinks a united North America is even a possibility, I would like to offer this discussion as proof to the contrary. It's been a long string of incoherent rage (iron mike) broken up with bits of sanity (twila you are like a breath of fresh air) and it demonstrates that the border is not just a line on some map. Lets think of Canada and the USA as individuals rather than countrys for a moment. They're freinds, always have been, always will be. Just like any other freinds they have their differences but see past them. USA has some disgusting habits that Canada has learned to ignore and Canada's preachy sermons about fiscal responsibility and the proper use of military might really grate USA's nerves once in awhile but it's accepted. The two will always get along, just don't ask them to fly the same flag. If anybody disagrees with me, read this entire string from the begining then kindly reply.

Tired of cleaning up the world's mess, Iron Mike? Whose mess is Iraq? Seems to me that if the US hadn't put Saddam in power and armed him, there'd be a whole lot fewer dead people.

How 'bout Osama? Who the hell got him rolling with guns and cash? Why, it was the CIA.

How about the mess in South America? Your government claims to want to wipe out terrorism, but they train and fund people who are terrorists. What are you gonna do when that goes sideways on you, racially profile everybody who looks vaguely like they might be from a Latin American country, then blame it on Spain for hiring Chris Columbus?

I think you owe Nonrev and everybody else around here an apology, IronMike. We criticise the US because the foreign policy decisions your government makes are evil, arbitrary, and invariably lead to more strife. They affect the rest of the world in a detrimental fashion.

The rest of the world is tired of cleaning up the US's mess, IronMike. At least the earlier colonial powers tried to build something, to give something back. The US just sucks up the cash at one end and spews piles of crap out the other. Then the UN and the aid agencies have to go in and try to fix things.

...start to finish Robair, & I smell a no-win here. Must be getting old, 'cause I 'ain't gonna beat this dead horse. So many mis-conceptions abound about both Countries. I've met good people on both sides (yes Book, even Southerners aren't all plantation owners), and plenty of psychopaths too. Driving in N.Y.C. is a pleasure compared to Montreal. I asked a guy in Boston once if he had change for a dollar for a parking meter. He refused to take my dollar & gave me four quarters. My youngest brother was almost murdered in Toronto a few years back, he made the mistake of driving through a shit-hole at 12:30 am & broke down. He lied in the gutter for 3 hours, after being beaten unconcious. They tried to set his car on fire, but fucked it up. I went back to that neighborhood weeks later, he was still in the hospital, and dozens of cars drove by the exact spot. Nobody stopped that night! Point is, Canada has a lot of good things, the U.S has a lot of good things, put 'em together, you got it made. My three minutes are up!

Good cases made, all three of you; though from somewhat differing viewpoints.

Distressing to have even had a minor part in evoking such a disturbing display as on the previous page. What is particularly saddening is that the unknowing reader may have his opinions of our American brethern unfairly cemented by such an inaccurate portrayal of them. That was very uncharacteristic of most thoughtful Americans. (I have lived there, I can attest to that.) Most unfortunate - it certainly doesnt do any of his countrymen any service.....

Quite a shame, really..... :?

You are all diseased.

ABSOLUT_SS @ Fri Aug 29, 2003 9:47 pm

IRONMIKE doesn't need me to defend him nonrev, but what do you expect? Christ, it may be a "Canadian" website, but there is lots of venom here to go around. Some fool could post how "Hamas" helps poor Palestinians, oh yeah, and blows up a few buses full of Israeli civilians while there at it. But if an American tries to post or defend an "American" point-of-view, they're crucified! Unless, of course, they are of the left-wing pursuasion, anybody listening in Tennessee? Write "America sucks" on here, you make friends, write "America is good because", fill-in-the-blank, you become an instant target. Try it! You lived in the U.S. nonrev? Somebody in your family been shot, had the money out of your bank account stolen, had people slam a door in your face? I have. Right here, baby, great white north, NOT Detroit or Cleveland or L.A. BTW, you don't seem to notice when YOU'RE countrymen don't do this site a lot of service! KMA...

ABSOLUT_SS @ Fri Aug 29, 2003 10:16 pm

BTW, I've followed IRONMIKE'S posts on here for months, and the words "fried onions" are not usually used to end his posts. Mine sure have. Rev, blaming somebody personally for "the mess in Iraq" is akin to your direct influence on Cretien's policies. I used to live about a half-a-mile from the parliament buildings, and nobody asked me what we should do, yet when I work out-of-town, I get funny looks when I say I'm from Ottawa. Sorry to the site, but talking to you two, I can only end this post one way,

nonrev nonrev:
What an embarrassingly emotional outburst, IronMike; a complete and utter loss of self-control.

For someone who has backed you in previous discussions, I am disappointed as much as surprised.....

Well Ill tell you buddy that was one of the 1st times ive ever seen Mike lose it a bit, and I think he has a right too... he stated his opinion, with out belittling ANYONE,, so lets get back to the buddy, buddy way we were not so long ago.... Personally Mike has been pretty restrained in his posts as God knows some of you have tried to provoke him here....Dont forget, that although the US wasnt "officially" in the war they gave, lent , supplied the allies with millions of tonsd of equipment and supplies until they actually.."officially" enetered the conflict.. If you are gonna crack wise, get your history correct..HAd they not done what they did for the first few years of the war how do you think Britan could have survived???? Not Bloddy likel;y, as they would say........

ABSOLUT_SS @ Fri Aug 29, 2003 11:44 pm

There's always a bottom line, isn't there RH...? Sprechen zie Deutch?

ABSOLUT_SS @ Sat Aug 30, 2003 12:01 am

...and I love your pseudo English-lit major answers & sermons, non-rev. Instead of telling someone who you don't agree with in your usual vulgar vernacular, you do the "as someone who has backed you in previous discussions" bullshit fake-guilt-trip. Credibility, anyone? Man, what a jerk, not you, me, for actually thinking about some of the shit you write.

ABSOLUT_SS @ Sat Aug 30, 2003 12:03 am

...and I always hated that fucking cat...

ABSOLUT_SS @ Sat Aug 30, 2003 12:10 am

Talk about beating a dead horse, the thesaurus is the last refuge of the scoundrel, sound familiar, eng-lit major? For want of a better word, and I have a few for you...now stay on track, cat, one at a time...

Rev_Blair @ Sat Aug 30, 2003 5:29 am

I took my deep breath, Robair, and I stand by what I said. The US creates the messes and we are supposed to clean them up, not the other way around. Most of the world is tired of that.

IRONMIKE @ Sat Aug 30, 2003 7:41 am

This is an open apology to NonRev. I certainly went overboard. No one deserves to be addressed in such an manner and that being said, I AM quite embarrassed for the way that I addressed this fine member of CANADAKA. My deepest apologies NonRev...and to your "ilk" also.

IronMike
