Hello again, Rev. I gotta start being a little less honest about my personal life, or at least not post it on here. I can never explain to you guys why I have the "SS" insignia on my arm, nor will I ever try to justify what I know you are thinking. I was born in, lets just say the year Kennedy was shot Rev, for the record. I HAVE had tats (one) removed the hard way, NOT laser treatment. This was decided mutually, by the people that represent the tattoo that was removed! I am no longer associated with that organization. The "SS" bolts were earned, by me, in another life, another time.
Im sure I know EXACTLY what you are refering to SS, so everyone drop this line of hate now, End "this part" of the discussion..SS i used to "ride" too, so Im sure I understand what to associate the tats from..

The original Nazi swastika was an ancient Arabic symbol stolen by the Nazis,
Not exactly. the swastika was a roman symbol. As was the nazi salute. They pretty much stole all of their chit from the Romans, thinking they were going to be the next great empire.
My $0.02 regarding biker tats. Everybody knows what it represents. You (in the generic sense) can say it is something else, and maybe to you it is, but to everybody else it is still just a symbol of scumbags who tortured and killed a lot of people.
It's your baggage Absolut, so you can carry it if you want. Everybody knows what the modern associations with it are, though. Seems like a heavy load to me.
I was born a Canadian and I'll die a Canadian. If fighting to keep Canada what it is happens to be the cause of my demise; well people have died for a lot stupider reasons.
Have to agree with Rev_Blair SS. It's your right to keep those tats, but man, what a load. Rotsa ruck.
So what if some people can't handle seeing that symbol? Even if the tat were about the German SS, big deal. As far as I'm concerned the SS was the elite of the German military much like the Canadian JTF-2 or British or American Commandos. They fought valiantly to their deaths to defend their country. I'd like to think I'd do the same for Canada if we were at war.
I really can't believe that people can be so small as to judge anyone by what they thought was art in a drunken stupor at seventeen. Personally, I don't think tattoos are art, period, but I don't care what other people have on them.
As far as bikers, nazis, JTF-2(When I was marching around Airborne wasn't a bad symbol.) and any other organization, whatever; Live and let live, or if you prefer it Biblical; Let ye who are without sin cast the first stone.
I grew up in Regent Park in the late fifties and early sixties when the BDRs were the coolest thing. When I was in the forces we trained in Pet. with the Airborne. My brother in law's father fondly recalls his younger days in The Hitler Youth.
I can remember when I was a kid they told me FTW meant Freddy The Worm when I asked about the tats, and SFFD meant San Francisco Fire Department.
I guess my bottom line is, "If you are going to put someone down because of their skin art, then no matter what they are or have been, I think you're worse."

*irony* <<sigh>Ah yes, I too fondly remember marching around, swearing to die for a lunatic and treating my fellow man like sh&t. </sigh>>*/irony*
Who is the lunatic this week anyhow? Saddam was, then Bush and Blair; isn't about time we had another oriental one? It's been a long time since Ho. I think we should pick on the Koreans this Fall.

"I am not good with words but I do know that there are people who will hide behind the word with the intention of hurting someone while trying to seem "cultured" or above the masses. The thing is, most people can smell this approach for a kilometer/.6 mile. At least when you say f*** O** the other person doesn't have to play mind games to know how you feel."
Well, I am sorry if thats how I come across. If thats what you get out of my posts, I will apologize to you and even to Absolut. It seems I'm not allowed to fight back, eh?
Yes, well that would be more stereotypically Canadian, I guess....
However, I will try to write more like Tony Soprano, if thats what it takes. I just never realized I should pretend to be something I'm not. I'd have thought it would be highly insulting and patronizing to "dumb down" my thoughts. I sure as Hell wouldnt like it if someone did that to me! That, in fact, would be the height of mind games, really.
But in the spirit of things, I will leave the subject with "Whad-evuh."
You get used to it bro....

Lets clear the shit I started right now. I didn't say you can't defend yourself, you do a great job of defending yourself...I just noticed that when I retorted in a very vulgar way I was immediatley asked to apologize. Then it dawned on me that it seemed a little double standard was in the works...if we cut someone down with a smile on our face then that is civilized, thus....OK. But if we use vulgarities then obviously we are knuckle draggers and not valid. I myself do not prefer vulgarities ---much
Anyway, enough is enough...So, how was your weekend?
I guess my mind stumbled on a thought and I let it go.
Have a good day

Well, now I feel worse yet. If I have made ANYONE think I regard folks as "knuckle-draggers", again I apologize. This is one of the things I find infuriating/pisses me off about the'net. Written text doesnt always allow for the meaning to come through the way you meant it. No nuances of intonation, body-language, tone and so on (sorry, cant think of a different way to put it)
But, if it helps, this is not the first time its happened to me. I seem to put folks off at times, while I am usually just trying to be as clear with my terms as I can - to avoid misunderstandings - what irony!
My weekend was quiet - my wife and I do NOT go to provincial/state campgrounds on long weekends if you can avoid it.... unless you like being next to some bonehead that brought three barking dogs along with his four whining kids and the wife that bitches at him because he's half-in-the-bag by four o'clock and wont let her play her new Celine Dion tape at full-blast.... tell me if I have drawn a good picture of my crabby 'old-fart' self.... LOL
