Canada becoming a part of the states is a scary thought. We all know damn well that the only reason this would happen is to benefit the americans. They would be in direct control of all our resources. Say Canada does keep its Gov't. It would be a shadow gov't or a gov't kept to keep the former canadians thinking they had a say. Yes sir if this was to happen then the americans would be in control, they dont like be in the side seat, and I for one would be joining the underground resistance. lol.

Or I would be meeting you all on the boats.

I've only been to the states a few times. I havnt been there long either. As soon as I was across the boarder the mood of the place changed. I always looked over my back. I was constantly nervous. And I was only in Maine. Perhaps it was the stereotype that americans are more violent, perhaps its just my prejudice against americans, whatever it is, if it where to come here and consume the Canada I know and love and serve with pride, 1 Royal New Brunswick Regiment!! Reserve force infantry, small plug, then I am afraid I would have to die a martyr or move. I would in all doubt be labeled a terrorist though. lol.

I just read some of the damn site united north america. yeah. I dont think so!!!

one part about canadians going overseas and people welcoming them cause we have a smaller population and there isnt as much attention on us??

"When Canadians travel abroad, many people have friendly or ambivalent feelings towards them based on their nationality. This is not because Canadians are better people. It is simply due to the fact that Canada has a small population that is not nearly so well known across the globe. For many people outside North America, the perception of Canada is a land full of many trees, beautiful water and a population of a few million lumberjacks and Eskimos."

That is the biggest bunch of BS I've ever heard. Euorpe loves Canada because in WW2 we joined BEFORE we where attacked! we joined because innocent people where dieing and needed our help. The americans joined because the Japanise bombed perl harbour. Sure the Americans may have lost more men, but that means little to peple who watched the americans stand by and watch them die till they had their own agenda to revenge.

Canadians where labeled the fiercest fighting military in the entire War!! The americans renouned only for their weapons and money!!!
Canadians Fought hard and earned the respect of all peoples. WE are still to this day there to help rebuild and peacekeep. not blow up and kill one country a year!!!

Goto Holland and ask them why they love Canadians! They will tell you in the second world war we marched into that country and liberated it from german hands. ok I'm ranting.

I'll stop now. Canada has a tighter bond with euorpe then the states. I for one wouldnt stop wearing the canadian flag if this crap did happen. But neither would I stand by and watch my country get taken over by the states. I'm getting worked up about something that may never happen. But by God when I hear that the honour and valour, respect and pride that makes Canada what it is threatened it makes me want to don my uniform and grab my rifle!!! I'm Canadian and I always will be!

I wonder what the Germans really think of the Canadian Army!

Evan @ Fri Sep 12, 2003 10:59 am

Thats a good question.

I heard a saying once that a leader at the time of the war said.

If you had canadian soldiers, american equipment and money and british officers you would have a army that would be virtually undefeatable.

I think thats it. I would like to think the germans feared us but its hard to say. Probably hated us at the time.

I hope your right. Canada has alot to be proud of and enough history and pride to not have to be overshadowed by another nation.

....ahhh, what a thread! Nice to see some of you can actually read through the lines as far as "SS" bolts are concerned, & some of you just THINK you can. I've been reading (NOT WRITING) on here for two weeks. Funny, nonrev, how the typed word DOES lose something in the translation, don't it? I feel your pain! You are nothing but a caustic opportunistic asshole (how's my grammar?), who jumps on one point & uses it to wax poetically. Yes, this is a "personal attack", but at least its easy to read...

...One poster said the "SS" were an "elite" unit! My mother's father was crippled at Vimy, and my fathere's father came home on a hospital ship two months to the day after he lost his leg on June 9, 1944. I never knew my Grandfather on my mothers' side, but I sure knew the Grandfather on my daddy's side! He had NOTHING but respect for the "SS" unit that tore the hell out of his platoon. Some talk about it, some DON"T. My uncle was in Hong-Kong when the Japanese overran it, lost a finger to a bayonnet so they could take off his gold wedding ring, in captivity. My grandfather always had high-praise for motivated professional soldiers, & the way he talked, the "SS" were as good as they got! That's NOT why I ended up with the black bolts on my arm, but discipline & honor have something to do with it! ...'N for the record, I used to "ride"...

long story, short version is, i've got a job to do. When the job is done, I'm Canadian again (or maybe Australian...) Never said I was unhappy here, I'm having fun. I'm just a little disgusted and the way things are run around here....

Beckie @ Fri Sep 12, 2003 6:11 pm

You just sound so anti-everything except canadian. American bucks don't hurt, eh. Oh, and count me out on the ship to australia when the states and canada unite.

Rev_Blair @ Fri Sep 12, 2003 7:01 pm

The States and Canada won't unite, Becks. Maybe we should put you on a boat though.

If you like the US so much I suggest you pack up and move. Promoting the end of Canada is not a really good option around here. As for your to being ever ready...I don't doubt it for a minute.
