Both polar region combined make up about 2.4% of total water, not sure about the comparitive North and South balance.

Those would obviously jade some people against the message, given that teaching by example is one of the best ways to teach. So Al Gore is making money from telling people that global warming is for real, in what is actually a somewhat disingenuous political film and autobiography. He's still playing the part of politician, and it's obvious. Does that make his message any less important? No, nor should it. Is it really that bad to make money from trying to convince people to be more responsible?
No shit he's a politician, but to portray the C02 amount leading the temp increase, is with out a doubt a complete lie, the ice core samples indicated the exact oposite, temp increase leads C02.
To top it all of, the man owns a carbon credit trading company. The profits of his silly film mean nothing, the profits from trading carbon credits, and his hysterical domesday mantra, tell me he's an opportunist charlatan, selling snake oil and nothing more.

So your looking at cities like Tokyo, New York, Mumbai, India; Shanghai, China; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Dhaka, Bangladesh underwater. The Florida pan handle would be a nub. Your talking millions homeless and rampant disease.

That's assuming the water levels rise by 10 metres, and if all the ice was above current sea levels which it is not.
Water volume increases by 9% when frozen. so the ice currently under water would give up 9% of it's occupied volume if melted.
Another reason why MacDonalds fills their coke with crushed ice.
The decrease in level at the Arctic offset by the increase at the Antarctic and an increase in airborne water vapour caused by the higher temperature may and I say may cause a decrease in sea levels.
Time for Gore and his ilk to stop playing on peoples hysterical fears.
