Containment is the key.

Hell if Canada doesn't get swallowed up by the United States on 2010 (United North American Treaty), then in 20 years we will have to worry about France trying to reclaim us.

Me thinks you've been watching too many Rambo movies..."containment is the key".
Time to grow up, me thinks. Pretty obvious, you'd love to be a Yank. Worked with them, love them, but I ain't one of them nor do I want to be. And they ain't one of me. Get a grip.

Actually I can proudly say, I have never watched a Rambo movie, nor am I interested.

It seems obvious you have, to make reference to my comment. Maybe you're the one who need to grow up.

I like 60 minutes and CSI programs. Sorry to disappoint you.

As far as wanting to be a U.S. Citizen. Humm, 12 years in the USA just returned to Canada, my 2nd ex-wife is a U.S. Citizen from Seattle.

1st wife, Mexican.

My 3rd and future wife, has to be Australian or from New Zealand.

Canadian women, materialist xxxxx, the lot of them, and I have had my fill.

Yep we pander to the seperatist in Quebec, most people from Quebec are wonderful people but the seperatist are the voice that never shuts up. In two years Alberta and BC will be the largest voting block, Quebec is running our of time to get all those "Special" laws passed or it won't happen. I hope Harper doesn't give them to many concessions just keep the cry babies well fed for another two years and then they shall know what the West is willing to "Put" up with. I smell Canadian Bacon.

Too bad Alberta and BC don't have the same voice. Keep dreaming.

just one little thing...canada needs alberta..canada does not need quebec

quebec has nothing to offer at all...they consume a great deal of our tax money in an attempt to bribe them in remaining in canada and offer nothing but grief in return...my ideal canada consists only the provinces from mb to bc and the territories...you guessed it...i'm a western canadian separtist

To that I say "Vive le canada libre...... du Québec :P "

To the Question " Is Canada bribing Quebec to stay in the country?"

Yes you are. Jean Charest and the rest of the Québec federalist would cease to existe if it where not the case. To bad there is no Québec federalist on this tread to point this out.

A+

well all i can say to that is i remember the referendum to this very day and what really blew me away was here you had all these grown adults actually crying like little children lucien bouchard included after the yes side lost followed by near-riots on the street...the 1st thing that came to my mind was that these people really must hate us for that magnitude of negative emotion to find expression..never mind the fact that several people rallied, buses were filled onward to quebec to urge them not to vote yes...a decent man would be so moved by that he'd say the hell with it..lets go back to the bargaining table...but not bouchard..he could never soften his heart...and here you have all these people saying "please dont separate quebec" canada really is a contrast of whacked extremes..here the british won the war against the french and yet to this day we treat them like they won and i still honestly believe that there is a select group of gender-hostile lesbians in quebec that basically call the shots in canada regardless as to whos in power

Doer urges PM not to let politics hijack Boeing contract

WINNIPEG (CP) - Manitoba Premier Gary Doer is reminding Prime Minister Stephen Harper not to let pork-barrel politics hijack a contract to build new military cargo planes.

Doer says he's surprised and frustrated by a published report this week that says federal Public Works Minister Michel Fortier won't sign the contracts unless Quebec gets most of the benefits. Doer says the situation sounds eerily similar to 1986, when the federal Conservative government chose a Quebec firm over a Manitoba company to maintain CF-18 fighter jets, even though the Manitoba firm's bid was lower and technically superior.

Doer says the decision on where to build the new C-17s should be based on merit, not politics.

Jean-Luc Benoit, Fortier's director of communications, says the minister will choose the best deal for all Canadians, not just Quebec.

Harper could soon be forced to choose between delaying the deal with Boeing to help the Quebec industry or securing a contract before the company's price guarantee expires at the end of the month.

David Emerson talks about BC's Aerospace industry, and the importance of not interfering with the procurement process.

Hopefully Senator Fortier catches this.

If I had my way, I'd separate Ontario from the rest of the country so the people here can stop hearing the rest of you whine! :D

you people seem to be forgetting that Quebec and its people the same as the rest of the Provinces contribute to the Federation....
it would appear that they are being bribed when in reality they are only getting what they should get... the have provinces in this Country ie
Alberta and Ontario should be willing to share witht he have nots
PEI Nova Scotia etc..... we will only survive as a united country so we should stop the whining and finger pointing and work toward a common cause ---- that is the economic security of a united idependant Canada...........

Only Quebec gets more than anybody else right? Saskatchewan has been fighting equalization promises made by Harper, only to get those payments directed to Quebec for a few votes. Real fair eh?

Numure @ Mon Feb 05, 2007 8:22 pm

Québec doesnt get more per capita, and the system is based on a per capita formula.
