Brenda Brenda:
When will it go through your thick skull they don't NEED Polish Citizenship, as long as they have another European one? Just as Polish people, they TOO can work everywhere they like in Europe. Dutch Citizenship is the same as European Citizenship. Polish Citizenship is the same as European Citizenship.

There are no borders anymore, not seriously anyway. There is no border patrol in the West, but in the East there is. (I was checked when I drove from Czechy ;-) to Poland...). You are not checked when you drive from Holland to Germany to Czechy though... (although I am not sure about the German-Czechy border...)

Anyway, in the West, there are no passport checks anymore...

Stop Insulting me, ok Sweetheart? I already told one smart ass to fuck himself, I don't want to tell you that. I kinda like you.

I know they have EU citizenship. But EU citizenship is still much worse than national. Turks with Dutch citizenship won't come to Poland to work, even if Poland will be at the same level as Holland. Why? Because they will have a better living home, in Holland.
The reason why Poles leave Poland, is because there life is bad here. Not much work, low earnings etc. They are motivated to leave. If they could find a good job in Poland they would stay. So would a Holland born Muslim.

Even if your immigrants come to us, it won't be much o f them. They will be anyway somehow assimilated to Europe by that time, and they will be your minorities, not ours.

Ooo, and there are no border controls any more since 21 December. East is in Schengen since.

Brenda @ Wed Feb 27, 2008 5:24 pm

Ohhh, so now Poland is not as good anymore? Double standards?

I don't think they would come, because of the reasons I mentioned before. Still, you (Poland...) has to clean up its own shit. Like Holland did, and like Belgium did, and like France did.
What I don't like in your attitude though, is that you can say: the Muslims are YOUR countries problem, but you want the EU to build Polish roads... YOU are part of the EU, YOU have the same problem the rest of the EU has... Start paying...

I didn't know that there are no border controls anymore, I lived in Canada then... I was lucky I brought my passport last Feb :P

I never said Poland is da best.

In Comparison with my favourite EU state, Sweden and Germany (the west part), it definitley is worse. I told you already why: Nazism ans Communism. Holland had a weaker version of the war than Poland, Holland was speared from communism, and got money from America to 'to clean up its own shit' (the Marshall plan). It had the 'EU' for help too.

In a matter of fact it is the west's fault that Hitler invaded Poland, and that Communism was forced in central Europe. If France alone wanted to destroy Hitler, it had many chances before winter 1940, but no, the west had to wait until Germany gets prepared for war and skips the Maginot line through Benelux...

This is the truth. Don't deny it.
......................................

My attitude is that we are one Europe, and we share goals and fatalities. Western Europe was once selfish and didn't give shit about Central Europe. It was called WWII. East never ignored west though. And it isn't doing that now. Sure, Central Europe, will help, if it can, with the immigration problem.

Central Europe has problems with roads, West Europe with immigrants. And the EU is there to solve them ;)

Poland could build it's own roads, it would just take much longer.

East needs West and vice versa. The EU would happen sooner or later, and I say it is good that it happened sooner. In some time the EU will be a more better organization than it is.
It is like West and East Germany. Germany still has some problems, but it is getting better. No one is in favour of splinting Germany into two again. The same with Europe. Alea Jacta Est !!!!

Brenda @ Thu Feb 28, 2008 12:50 am

I told you I wouldn't get into the war thing with you. Stop it. ( I should not say this, but I do... WESTERN EUROPE was not selfish in WWII. HITLER was. Asshole you are! Fuck, have you ANY idea what you just said???)

ONce you pay 20% of your wages to the EU (on top of the national taxes), you will not be so happy you can feed the lazy who say they are poor and blame it on whoever they like, AND come over to take your job.

I don't care how long it takes Poland to build roads. Hell, I have been waiting for 18 years to see a highway being build  And then I am not mentioning the one that hasn't been finished for 30 years...

Then the "nice EU rules... The Schiphol taxes we have to pay because it is a nice little airport, but too poluting according to Brussels. Crap, and what about the east? Browncoal is what they heat their houses with! Cars emissions, sure, tax the hell outta cars and the use of it! What do YOU pay for a liter of gas? I don't think you pay close to Euro 1.50, do you? Do you pay road tax? 20% VAT? That all goes to the EU... I haven't even mentioned the EU rules for small business owners, house owners, education, healthcare and what more you can think of.

Please, the west doesn't need the east. Not now, not 30 years ago, and not in 30 years.

The EU is not there to solve problems. The EU is a dramatic beaurocratic monster, that costs Millions of taxpayers Euro's. The move from Brussels to Strassbourg every month alone costs millions. What a waste of money, and bad management. If the EU would have been a public business, it would have been bankrupt a year after it started.

The Euro is the worst invention the EU could ever think of. Wages cut in half, but prices rissen. Doubled, almost. The most ridiculous rules were installed. Of course, "environmental". What a bullshit, especially when you see the east doesn't have to follow them...

You see, I am not really fond of the EU... Please, don't try to convince me the EU is SOOOOOOOOOO good. Of course, it is for the poor eastern countries. It was good for Spain too. It still is. The rich countries can pay. I was a citizen of a rich country. But the last couple of years, I had a damned hard time coping financially. We never (in my generation) had it so bad as we had it the last couple of years. The EU sucks. Period.

Please, read your facts about the EU here:
http://europa.eu/abc/history/index_en.htm
As you can read, the EU didn't exist before 1951. Holland had done its share in rebuilding the country before that.

Before that, there was the BeNeLux, a confedaration of Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. Thank you very much.

Congio @ Thu Feb 28, 2008 1:06 am

I know, thats why I put EU in ". 'EU'

The EU was called then the European Coal and Steel Community.

As the west was cooperating in rebuilding, the Russians invades Budapest, and were imprisoning war heroes cause they could be dangerous for the new communist regime.

The west just had it all easy since 1945. East since 1989.

And by 1951 not all was done yet, for sure.

Being affected first hand by the influx of polish people here in Scotland, I agree with Brenda that the whole concept of the EU is rubbish. No way in the world would I see Canada fucked up in the same way. I feel sorry for the smaller nations that are/want to join the EU, at the end of the day it doesn't do anything for them. Their people just want to leave and now they have an easy way of doing it while putting strain on other countries' resources.

Canada has enough to worry about as it is thanks.

Congio @ Thu Feb 28, 2008 5:41 am

Well, Scotland is quite close to Poland, and a trip there coasts less than 50$ Canadian dollars. I don't think that there would be such an invasion of immigrants to Canada because:
- Canada is to far so that any one could just go
- Travelling back and fourth to Canada would coast to much for a poor seasonal worker

And btw, isn't Canada an immigrant country?! WTF?! Canada invites thousands of immigrants every year.

Congio @ Thu Feb 28, 2008 5:53 am

Anyway I think you are forgetting one thing: Not all countries opend their economies for workers from east EU. Germany won't until 2011 or even 2012. UK, Holland, etc. Did it because they wanted it.

Hey, if the EU would be so bad, many countries would have left in already. None has done that yet. Only Norway and Switzerland are waiting to join. I think so is Canada.

You just focus on the negative.

danikyvor @ Thu Feb 28, 2008 6:37 am

I think the Swiss people have always had an aversion to the EU, but have realized that they can't avoid NOT having some sort of relationship since they're right smack in the middle of it. I understand the vote to join the EU was close, but that was back in 2005.

This is from the EU website:

http://ec.europa.eu/external_relations/ ... /index.htm

Not sure what you're "WTF"-ing at, of course Canada has always been an immigrant country - it wouldn't be a country if it wasn't for all the people who come through it. HOWEVER - Canada is unlike most nations where huge swathes of it are unpopulated, can't BE populated due to the land. It's all well and good to say that we're the 2nd largest landmass in the world and we have a lot of space...the fact is, a lot of that space isn't people friendly.

I would even go so far to say that the population we have just now suits the country perfectly.

Also - I recall France being in the news last summer as wanting to leave the EU. Pretty rich considering that it's one of the founding countries. What does THAT tell you?

Congio @ Thu Feb 28, 2008 6:59 am

France leaving? Ha ha ha

Sarkozy is verrrrrry pro EU. He wants to be the President of Europe some day, fore sure!

Canada has so much land it could fit china's entire population. C'omon, the fact Canada is big, and awaits Colonization similar to XIX century California's is so obvious to me, that I don't see any need of further discussion on this topic.

I know myself many pro EU Swiss people. My sister lives in France, near the swiss border, so I go there like twice a year.
Switzerland is going to join the EU. It already has many agreements with it. As Norway does (no border control etc.). Yes, because they can't avoid NOT having some sort of relationship since they're right smack in the middle of it. But, in this shrinking world, Canada will find itself in a sort of similar position some day. The Question is: Will Canada start a Cooperation with Europe as an independent nation or as the Northern Part of the USA. You choose. I already chose.

and BTW, why does everyone here try to educate me on Europe? I've been living here for 13 years now, and I study about it at the University. Your link, dimoreien, told me nothing new.

This video gives exactly the idea I have in mind: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo8bFZc9i ... re=related

So do you prefer Canada to be USA 's bitch, or one of the deciding ones in the EU? Sorry to say, but with a population of 32 million in comparison with USA 's 300 million and Europe's over 400 million there is no fully independent Canada. Already today. Lets be realistic.

But, YES, in the interest of Canada it would be good to wait for entering.
