The language you used said otherwise. and the every day Canadian doesn't vote Tory?
Really, your political stripes are well shown.
No disgrace in it, just don't pretend you are presenting a near-neutral stance.

Wow, not only did you not get the point of this thread and want to turn this into the typical thread of partisan argument, but now you question my integrity. The language I used said otherwise? That I was not honest? That I didn't lay out my political leanings first and foremost and clearly state I didn't support any party in this issue and clearly stated why? That they all need a wake up call and start to think of us, the average Canadian? Where did I say anything about who anyone should vote for? or what party should or shouldn't be in power?... .... Again, you're reading into this thread many things that are not there and disregarding what I and many others have stated as the goal and aim of this thread, to get our elected officials, all of them, to start to worry about the people who put them in Ottawa and not how to stay there or gain power....Oh well, carry on.

Q, its well known that you favour the left.

The left in this country tried to take power, it failed and failed badly. I didn't see you out on the ramparts calling for the end of partisan bashing when the news of the colaition hit the news. Only after another melt-down on the left , and with Primie minster Haper with even more support now do the NDP/liberals all of sudden want to make up and be friends.

Perhaps the left should have been asking thier various MP to actually grab a spinal column and vote the government down a year ago instead of playing games with the constitution.

Please, just spare us the 'non-partisan' talk

So here is an question, be honest.

If there were a right coalition trying to take power in Canada, would all you who supported this one support one of the right. Like say the CPC, Christian Heritage party - who by the way is pro life, pro capital punishment, and say an Alberta seperatist party?

ridenrain @ Wed Dec 10, 2008 1:35 pm

I think it's still wrong because it denies the voters their voice.
No one voted for a coalition and it's pretty clear that our parties don't cooperate for the betterment of all Canadians, but hold to party lines.

Scape @ Wed Dec 10, 2008 1:36 pm

To oust a Harper counterpart? For example if Jean got a minority and the Tories were not knocked to 2 seats and they somehow convinced the NDP to side with them? Sure. However Jean won a majority so he could act like Harper is acting now. Subtle difference.

Christian Heritage party is for the death penalty? Are you sure about that?

Of course they would have supported it. Several of the right wing Albertans on CKA were making proclamations of separating and flying their flags upside down 10 minutes after the coalition was announced.

I wouldn't support it. ESPECIALLY if it meant getting into bed with the bloc.

"Grab a spinal column"? Who went crying to the Governor-general to prorogue Parliament rather than face a democratically elected Parliment? That's right, Stepehn Harper. The Coalition was well within its Constitutional authority to take power. Brinksmanship? Perhaps, but it worked. The Tories now look weak, Harper looks spineless. All the separatist rhetoric of the Tories the past week just pissed off Quebecers and thus guaranteed that the Conservatvies will never get a majority government under Harper. Meanwhile, the Liberals are using this abeyance to install a new leader.

All-in-all, a successful play by the Liberals, especially if it turns out that Ignatieff can actually lead.

uwish @ Wed Dec 10, 2008 2:25 pm

why should it piss off quebecers? he is just stating the obvious, he didn't sign a deal with the bloc, the libs and socialists did.

Why don't you ask Quebecers? Polls showed that Harper's comments were viewed unfavourably in Quebec. Maybe it was because they thought he was being duplicitous using the term "separatist" in his English addresses, but "souveraintistes" in his French ones. Maybe they don't think he appreciates that Bloc members have the same rights as any other democratically member of Parliament. Maybe they cite his rhetoric as yet more evidence that Harper doesn't "get" Quebec.

But whatever the reason, his heart or his shoes,
He stood there on Christmas Eve hating
BQs.

Was t withing it's consititutional pregorative, sure. Same way Harper had hi sability to prorouge parliment. In this case he did to preserve the democratic process. And what do you think is going to happen during the next election, are the left going to be trumpting how proud they were of thier coalition?

i think not

I can't find a statement on their website saying that they do. They used too, maybe they have backed away from that. -Either way, my point is, is that they are way out in right field.
